JP4 I have just bought a set of 17's as I don't want to keep ruining my 18's and I'll see what tyres I end up with?? At the moment the have potenzas <spelling> on ???

Boost will be 2.2bar right thru At the moment it tails off at 1.6bar after 5000rpm Thats why it ain't much of a 1/4 mile car?

Will the 17s make a big difference?

2.2 - now that's some boost alright.

RCM don't win everything and the things they have won have been massively helped with a big red button marked NOS

i bet you will want him to use the nos at totb, (team subaru) when it suits you.
also oly drives his own car, what other tuner does that at that level.

Oh absolutely. I'm just jealous cos it isn't in the rules for me in club challenge

Olly is a top bloke, fantastic driver and a generally great chap.

The gobstopper is an amazing car too and I am sure will do awesomely at TOTB - hopefully we can retain the trophy. Will be very hard though.

well said , totally agree with that duncan

however i wouldnt like to put nos on mine as it has head gaskets and in my veiw and experience a think by running nos when you have head gaskets then you are asking for trouble at that level. wills rings is the main reason he is able to run this amount of nos,in my opinion, however wills rings will not be going on mine or yours or any other 2.5 unless grp n changes from 2 litre to 2.5. so if you ask me thats why people get pi-sed off with the clarks and nos, because we all want too, but we just no it wont last on our engines without wills rings. and me for one havent got the time or the patience to be taking my engine in and out at the end of an event anymore.obviously there will be some exceptions poping up probebly on this thread. but running nos on a drag strip and running it on track for multiple laps, stevie wonder can see which application would do the most damage, and that is clearly why the clarks get a great deal of respect from me.

good luck at totb, i will be there, trying to keep my steering wheel straight as i have had close to zero time in my car and it scares me alot

regards

regards

Andy, are you running as a private entry at TOTB?

Will your engine be back in and running by TOTB?

Will the angles of the take off pipe for the wastegate affect boost control ie boost creep?

I've heard that when running a twin scroll turbo with single wastegate set up that anything over 90 degrees will cause boost creep as it can't dump exhaust gas quick enough but will this be the same when rinning twin wastegates?

The angles on my set up looks like 135 degrees but the area of the twin 38mm wastegates is considerably bigger than a single 44mm.

Any answers would be appreciated.

Thanks

Peter

What are the differences between them?

Whats the difference between the "wills" and "O" rings then?

Does this also mean that Banny's "wills" rings will be inferior to RCM's versions?

no not at all

i am quite sure that rings that banny is getting will be the best available
chy has got a lot of knowledge regarding things like this and if any one can locate wills rings for bannys i am sure chy can. all i know is that last year they were not readily available. times move on

They are silver plated inconel rings and are in no way inferior to the rings RCM use, I was being pedantic when I called them Wills rings as it made it easier for the masses to understand what I was referring to.

Chy is having them made to his spec after hours of R&D, so you will be getting top line stuff and Pennine Subaru will be the first to offer them for any size engine not just the 2 litre setup like RCM.

fantastic
about time, this is what the subaru tuning industry needs to enable people like myself to carry on tuning and not giving up because you cant get past the point where your head gasket goes as soon as you put some half decent hp through your motor.
i think i will put the evo on the back burner for a year or two he he

Turbo will be a GT35/42R for the moment till I get bored with the power

In terms of the car being ready I have ordered a few bling bits for the engine bay just waiting on them, going to pop down tomorrow and have catch up with Chy.

I was allowed to hold one of these rings when I was at Chy's workshop back at Easter....it was quite funny as he asked me if my hands were clean before he passed one to me!

You will be able to check out my scoob when you visit him tomorrow.

I thought I stood more chance of taking my head gaskets out without other uprated parts? I was curious on a 50 shot

Boston! Very nice, last time I was there I meant to head down to the italian district as its supposed to be excellent but I never got the time. I think watching too many gangster films has you wondering about the people you talk to due to that accent

Should be fine if mapped correctly. Remember, i have run Marks car for over 3 years with a similar setup and no issues until i stripped 2nd gear and hit the limiter with a full shot of nitrous!

Here is a wee update from the past wee while.
As usual stuff always take longer than forcasted but as this is not an off the shelf mod it is to be expected.

Got the headers and exhaust back from ceramic coating and big thanks to Wullie @ Meercat for sorting it out.

And all fitted back on to the car. This pic also shows the support that is being fabricated to support the custom rad and fmic combo. The cradle will be able to be detacted from the car holding both the rad and fmic in one big unit.
