Well after a good day at the dragstrip - rotorstock at santapod I managed a lazy 12.4 @ 110mph , I decided to run the car on evolve's dyno on the way back and it made the following :-

How did you find launching at santapod?, I found the track was way too sticky and even with the launch control activated I just managed a 1.9sec 60ft time as the revs were dropping just as I dumped the clutch, it launches perfectly on the road though

i didnt really launch on my runs, and i wanted to me carefull on the engine and gearbox. so there is a better time to be had

I went back down to Engine Tuner on sat for a couple of things Martyn put my car on the rollers said ithe noise was was coming from pre maf by the sound of it.

when i got hole from the drive back from ET, i double checked the seal between the maf and aps caik, that was all good.

so today i set apon trying to find it.

so the car went up on axle stands wheels off, lights bumper etc all off.

then i noticed some of the pipe work that was made up for me when i had the bigger filter on the aps kit fitted. and there was a big fookin hole in it where it had been welided. by the looks of it, it was under the silicon joiner, but had slipted down over time so the hole was not covered, and so the funny noise.

i patched the hole up and now the noise has gone!!

woohoo

DaOne really didn't launch at all when I was watching him. However, I managed a best of a 1.75 60ft with my lardy new age. Didn't just drop the clutch though, slip a bit and then a complete drop, because as you say, drop the clutch and you just stick to the Strip!

Am really glad you found the source of the noise DaOne! Has it made a difference to performance now it's patched? Or was it too minor for that..

Niceone, now that is the proper way to launch! Sadly I dont have the benefit of a bulletproof ppg box as you do so my lazy launches are costing some valuable seconds lol I've also got the worst possible ratios for drag racing as the Type R gearing is just way too short and im finding myself shifting in to 5th just before the 1/4mile mark, guess its time to start saving for a ppg box
