Yes, simply put, the F1As work on the hatch, the others don't.
One thing to bear in mind though about the F1As, great though they are. Goodyear no longer make them in that size (245/40/18) so if you buy a set and then have an unrepairable puncture you're back in the same position as you are now. It's for exactly that reason that I've been holding off on buying them and have been looking into alternatives. Top of that list being the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas, which also work very well on the hatch apparently.

Awful on the hatch (I have them currently and they are not a patch on the SP600's)
The assymetrics are better

Based on the comments above about the Eagle F1's being discontinued has anyone got any other suggestions? Had Michelin Pilot Sport 2 suggested but they are at £175 do they also come in asymetric?

Sounds great. Does that include VAT and can I order just one? What are the contact details?

UPDATE
Subaru finally found one but wanted £240 + VAT, they are gold dust apparently - idiots.
Thanks to Mark and Barry have one on its way for £180 but its going to be a week before it arrives. Don't fancy driving on that girly wheel all week. Told Subaru Assistance they should give me a courtesy car as you shouldn't ride on a spacesaver for the mileage I do for a whole week and its their fault the tyres aren't available, they just laughed! Apparently Subaru use to use Mondial but now use AA and have loads of complaints about them so much so you now get the offer to use Mondial when you ring up how bizarre is that?
