Just a quick one regarding gearbox and diff oil. I need to buy some half decent stuff today. I don't have time for mail order so will have to be over the counter. I was looking at Castrol Syntrax Longlife 75W-90 (see link). Is this ok? Or can anyone recommend something else? Also how much (in litres) do i need to put in the gearbox and rear diff?

To do the whole job its about 4.2 litres if I remember correctly. Not used Castrol so could not give an opinion.

Oh and I am sure I dont need to say this but going to anyway, remember to loosen the fill plugs first, last thing you want it to drop the oil and not be able to fill it again

Ok thanks 5 litres it is. I know you fill the rear diff until it starts to come out of the fill hole but how about the gearbox how much does this hold exactly?

I have always had the car level on stands and filled it in the same way as the diff until it starts to com out of the fill hole, most annoying there's not a dipstick on the hatch.gearbox.

Yeah have to say I have found that sometimes with ICP which is frustrating. Give Alyn at AS Performance a call, I am sure he can sort you out.

I think they're just expensive regardless, AS performance were nearly £5 cheaper.

When your undertray pops off 25+ miles from home.

Still... gave me a chance to have a closer look at these beasts

Bummer. Who didn't secure it with all the bolts, clips and fasteners; that's another of my pet hates from lazy garages

I think we both have a pretty good idea

There seem to be more than a few fasteners missing form the arch liners, so I’ve ordered some.

At least it means they were actually removed for the full Dinitrol Chassis treatment.

For those out there with keyless fobs does this unit look legit?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193142260738

and now a new one from Partsouq

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/88835AG01...-/183041597250

the second hand one does not have Denso on the face like the new one or my current fob at home

The ebay item still has the original key with it so this would need to be changed/cut to suit your car.

The partsouq item comes without key blank/key plate p/n:57497AG400 which would also need cutting.
A bit cheaper from amayama https://www.amayama.com/en/part/subaru/88835ag010

Either would need pairing to your Subaru keyless access sytem using SSM

Thanks Don, apparently the second hand one comes with a new blade, I was just not sure if it was genuine as it doesnt have a Denso logo on it.

I am assuming Subaru are going to charge an arm and several legs to code it for me.
