Default Headers (Outlet Manifold) on 2.5 UK Sti

Hi All,

My research is inconclusive and now reaching out for some experiences and opinions. A friend of mine has a UK hatch and after driving mine he wants his to go a little quicker.

I'm trying to work out if the UK 2.5 Hatch lump suffers with the similar problems that the classic UK and JDM 2.0 had?!

What gains are there for swapping them out for the OEM?

He's not planning a huge build, something less than 450 but spool is very important.

He's spoke to a few companies and been offered the RCM / GT Spec 2 setup and additionally offered a ported option on an exchange basis.

Looking forward to your replies.

Thanks in advance.

is his car currently running standard power ?

he won't get anywhere near 450 unless he has a forged build done ,, but saying that the torque will make it feel awesome at around 350-380 and that can be done on the standard 2.5 without many swaps as I ran my standard hawk to that without any problems ,, but this is done at the owners own risk as the 2.5 is weak at the best of times with gasket and ring land issues it could cause the engine to show any weak points and fail , but many don't fail and are fine at this power ,,, posted headers work best below 400 as anything bigger will just cause more lag

Thanks Domino.

P{pretty much what i've said to him.

He's settled on turbo back, panel filter and racerom. Hopefully enough to put a smile on the face and all things that needn't be binned if the engine goes pop

Not according to Cosworth.....

The 2-piece discs features Cosworth technology embedded within the pair of 48 vaned discs together with lightweight high grade aluminium mounting bells designed to deliver enhanced airflow than the original brakes. The discs have been developed to produce optimum braking bite, as well as thermal stability and durability.
They also have their unique cleaning groove pattern which is different to AP's

Opinions please..

The small standard gravel rash vinyl over the back doors and lower arch are terrible, as is the paint, but I already know this as probably most of you do, however rather than have it repainted as the car will be seeing some track action, I was considering options, but I'm not convinced this looks good at all, so your opinion welcome please

Below is the passanger side I haven't yet tackled, soft road legal tyres are the culprit here! So I've ordered some mudflaps too!

Hi all.
What an eventful weekend. Tough mudder on Saturday and TOTB on Sunday.

I managed some reasonable times given that I was lacking power on the big guns and carrying full weight! The last I checked I was 17th out of 40 in class, I'm sure it didn't end like that, but I'm struggling to find any recent results.

I only managed 1 sighting lap and 3 sprints before I had to park up following two minor issues, but both had me out of action and it then wasn't worth me getting back in as the team were struggling anyway following their own problems.

I sprang an oil leak somewhere near the turbo offering quite a bit of panic smoke, but given the car was hot and it was everywhere it want easy to locate. However its proved to be a minor issue. Then the second issue was the clutch, we aren't sure as yet what it is but it seems minor, so this will be inspected this week, we suspect a heat shield has come loose and is tickling the flywheel.

Anyway the point to my post, a standard hatch with the only modifications being a few bolt ons and a remap with some poly bushes made for a reasonable experience, managed to keep up with likes of classics running decent power levels. Not bad for a Lardy Hatch with a jelly legged driver.
