It doesn't look any different in use. It doesn't change the O.E. software just a map update. It appears to be current. I have zoomed in on the map in a couple of areas that I know of new roads and they are there. I was still on the original 2008/09 version so a big difference for me.

Mine is Chargespeed from Amazon, but they are pricey and come in white fibre glass so will need painting.

Did anyone here go for the Powerstation handling upgrade, the 800 quid one? Do you have a parts list? I was planning on going for this in the new year but now they've changed to storage, I'm going to get the parts fitted elsewhere.

Not sure what to do about the power steering revalve, I don't suppose anyone has any details on that?

Bought myself a JDM hatch STi last night from Japan, hopefully it'll be here mid January. Can't wait as I've got a 2.35 ready and waiting to drop in it. Then off to Chevron to make it go around corners better!

Hi

How is the map update installed?

Just use the new dvd in the headunit Map slot?

I had tried a later car map disc but didn't work that way!

Thanks

2009 Hatch Sti - HIDs headlight units :

Not happy with the light output - can I change the "bulbs" in the HID unit? currently 35watt.
I guess that's just the dip beam as main beam look like yellow std halogen bulbs?

Anyone upgraded the dip and main bulbs on the std light units - any preferences / model types?

Manual says bumper off to change HID bulb / ballast! Looks like I can remove the covers and swap bulbs etc. with headlight in situ!

Thoughts?

Thanks

I've used PIAA bulbs in the dip better but not stunning http://www.piaa.co.uk/bulbs/bulbtype.asp?type=HB3

To upgrade the HID it's not just a case changing the bulb but the ballast as well. I've seen these but know nothing more about them.

As said, can change bulbs without removing bumper, just need to be careful not to contaminate bulb glass when fitting.

What about these........ no need to change ballasts

Not the Powerstation one but I had the Litchfield one fitted a while back. Litchfield were actually too busy to do the work so they sent me to Curtis @ AST in Cheltenham (ex Powerstation employee and suspension guru). I posted the full part list on here a few months back I'll try and did it out again.

Yes simply pop it into the map slot and leave it there. It doesn't load it into memory but when you select a destination it's simply searches from the new dvd. (I didn't even realise there was a map disc in mine when I bought the update! ).

To: Fatboy_coach,
Here you go:

These are all Whiteline Part Nos:
KDT902 Rear subframe bush insert
WO508 front arm bushes
BSR49Z Rear upgraded roll bar
KSB568 Front strut tower brace
KCA334 Anti Lift/castor kit
KSR207 Steering rack bushes
With fitting and four wheel alignment this lot was £860
(The handling pack is normally 800 but I requested the front arm bushes on top as mine were showing wear)

Hope this helps? I highly recommend it mate. It totally transformed my handling.

Thanks Guys,

I'll have a look.
Had seen some brighter HID "bulbs" @ £55 from a place I got the classic's bulbs from, Autobulbs I think?

Is the delay valve only on the newer models or just the hatch? Did you do this on your previous scoobs? I only ask as I'm finding the clutch action far from consistent, the bite point is ok but the release action seems to vary which I've never experienced on previous scoobs (or any other car!)

Evening everyone, from what I understand this is the place the hatches hang out as every other sub forum seems to be GC/D related :/
Anywho, I purchased a 2010 wrx-s with 44k on the clock last month. Seems completely standard engine/drivetrain wise apart from the S spec prodrive extras. The previous owner added some flyeye to the rear lights and repeaters

It's the first time I've owned any subaru sooo......firstly is there a thread or link to some further reading regarding this generation specifics? I like to get to know a car found some bits of info already.

Secondly what first mods/upgrades are proven worthwhile £ per hp wise? I'll be sorting out the laughable body roll/wallowing with some decent coilies and ARBs. The stock brakes look a little lost in the 18s and personally find them a little underwhelming. I'm guessing the STI brakes are the choice as opposed to an uprated disc an pad combo?

Apologies for the essay, are there any members local to doncaster and surrounding areas? Seen a white modded hatch and a black sti.

Thanks for any help,

John

Apparently it's on all 6 speed sti's so includes newage. I never had an issue on my old hawk sti but the hatch I just couldn't get a consistent pedal feel

Got a cat back 3" japspeed exhaust coming off my hatch soon (when it stops raining) , the rear baffels have come loose so there is a rattle/rasp from the back box ,,, doesn't affect the performance as it still made 500bhp without causing any problems just very loud, thinking it could be repaired or just used as it is if your not doing any track days lol

Open to offers ,collected from Bristol

Is this for an STI or wrx? I believe the exhausts are the same apart from the back box? If they are do you have any pictures?

Cheers

Hi,

Performance, best bet is to get a better exhaust and replacement panel filter and then get it mapped, this will se ethe best gains per £. Someone like Dynamix can open source map it at a resonable price.

Brakes, STI items will fit but the STI is a different PCD to the WRX so not a straight swap unless you intend to fit STI wheels too.

STI exhaust, again will fit but is a double exit so you'll need to cut another exit in the nearside.

Cheers
A

Do you have a link to details of how to bypass? Can it be reversed if I don't like it?!

it's not bypassing but removing the small orrifice and spring from the inside of the slave cylinder

Take slave cylinder off then undo big bolt on end. Remove orifice, plastic cup and spring then put bolt back in, refit and bleed.

good pics here:-

http://www.iwsti.com/forums/diy-mods-and-installations/33019-clutch-delay-valve-delete-alternative-method-4.html

and yep can reverse it by putting it all back in
