Fair enough went and saw a subaru tuning company and they say it should be safe running at 1.25 bar at 340-50bhp

You know what, if they said would, instead of could it would be much much better.

Does anyone know what the part number is for an 08 STI air con compressor? Any recommendations for where to buy, the main steelers want a fortune so looking for a re-conded or second hand.

Cheers for that, yeah not cheap at all I've found an American company who make non OEM ones for close to £150 plus £50 odd for import, tempted to go down that route being people rarely brake hatches.

Where do you folks get your front splitters? And what colour are zunn sport grills? Black or anthracite? I might spray my chrome 1s

And dose anyone else ever find there car runs slightly lumpy at low revs? Just trundling along in traffic gentle right foot it can sumtimes feel a bit jerky or jumpy, plant ur foot its fine.

Yes. Only said today it feels it misses at a lower speed. Thought I might get it checked at next service. Also tick over is about 500-600rpm you find the same?

At the mo I'm waiting on my car getting a roof wrap. B-)

Just been out jog my memory of what its doing, stuck in traffic which i am every second friday going to the airport, chuddling along in 2nd, as i touch the throttle as the traffic moves it jumps a tad, accelerating to 2-2.5k and letting off to coast as the traffic slows it jumps again a couple of times, having just tried it im nit so worried as it seems to be when letting off the throttle more so, but i have also noticed cruising in say 3rd in a slightly high gear for the road speed and i then go to accelerate i do get a bit of a rough spot but nit enough to be a miss fire. I will check my tick over later, reading the engine fail story's worries me but the thing im getting in traffic isnt as bad as i thought ob trying it again today, it literally feels like a jump as i touch the gas peddle and another as i let off and it slows, like the pull from the engine, going to bring my service forward a few weeks, get it compression tested too, then im bringing my decat fitting forward so can get a custom map and get it checked on the dyno, cant really afford atm but wnt a custom map asap

Ours feels a little "lumpy" is probably the closest to describe it on idle. It idles but every now and then its as if the engine shakes ever so slightly. It's fine at low and high speeds and no worrying sounds.

Mot passed yesterday with no advisories. Always good!

Interestingly the emissions with a single sports cat fitted were lower than last years mot when I had both standard cats fitted. Shows how efficient aftermarket products can be

Good stuff - how did you find the change in noise/sound from the car going from the cats to the sports cat?

The zunsport grills come in chrome or black, rather than anthracite. I got my splitter from Subaru, they had a deal on for genuine STI ones for £99...may still be available.

I might just spray my existing ones then save some money, the silver looks out of place against the darker parts of the car i think, il try subaru then, thanks mate.

I am thinking of selling my STi, it's an 08 plate with 34k on the clock and FSSH, paint work has usual road rash a couple if car park dings. Car is relatively standard apart from carbon splitter, blitz cat back, grooved discs and updated hoses.

Any idea how much I should look for?

Not as much as you'd like!

I was a bit shocked at the prices of 2008, 2009 STi's recently, silly money in my view - 12000 - 16000.
Although I suppose 5 years old now.
Have a laugh and try we buyanycar.com, use a spare e-mail addie as they mither after, then ignore their price.

Get out the auto trader or go piston heads, for sale on here etc.

I payed 14k 6 months ago for a 08 with 20k miles on it, so a private sale, now, slightly more miles, stick on at £13k and expect £12 or maybe less.

We're currently stripping back and respraying the arm rest plastics and I want to remove the centre STI console plastic also but can't find any removal guides. Any chance you could point me in the right direction?

I think there is a screw in the armrest under the lid, which when removed allows the armrest to slide back from the gear console bit.
After that I dunno!

open up the arm rest, Lift up the fabric piece to reveal two 10mm headed bolts, remove those.
next step pull the handbrake gaitor up and out it can be a bit of a pain and you'll need a plastic trim tool to unclip it, once removed theres a screw at the front area, Remove this and remove the center console up and unplug the wiring etc.

all you do then is pull up on the center sti plastic and ull it back once the rear has come up and out it will come, you can then unplug the sti logo and unscrew it to aid painting, the gaitor for the gear leaver unclips too.
