what gauges are they? and also, what are they mounted in? is there an adapter out there to allow a row of 3 gauges to be fitted below a single DIN flip out head unit?

They are prosport premium stepper gauges 52mm with peak record function & warning alarm setup.

they are mounted in a modified 52mm single din gauge holder from a VW Golf mk4

The front mud flaps look good

The rears dont come with any fittings so you have to screw them into the arch liner plastic (so you're making new holes). The rears were a pain in the backside to get them looking straight, in fact they arent straight on my car!

The bag of nuts and bolts supplied with the mudflaps were completely useless, either too small or too long so I binned them and used my own. They have been on the car around 12 months now, the STI logo still looks good and isnt peeling anywhere. At the time I remember having to chase Evobits after paying they took 4 weeks to arrive!

If the rears came with a bracket of some sort I think I'd recommend them. I'm actually going to buy some RA ones as they dont look as "floppy" and seem to come with the required brackets.
would you post some pix up please.

EvoBits do two styles, £55 PVC or the £83 Kaylan (stiffer material)

apprently they are designed on the RA version1 style flaps.
fitting like this

I've looked on youtube and the version2 RA flaps use brackets to fit the rears.

Good videos! The evobits ones didn't come with anything other than useless bolts for the rear. So the third screw has to go directly into the arch liner.

I'll take some pics tomorrow, I think the fronts fitted more like the second video (v2 RA).

Default New STI owner :D

Hello all, ive been stalking this forum for a while and now i have time to sit down and say hi!

I bought myself a San Remo red STI with 30k on the clock and im pleased as with it! So much more refined than my old clio 200!

Name: 98507830-676F-49FD-92B0-262AB094EE0E-22095-0000150D6FFF7A3C_zpsdb252bd5.jpg

A few things im after;

Exhaust - Im looking for a nice hatchback system or something just to beef up the tone but nothing stupid. Ive been told taking out the resinator pipe helps.

Induction - Very intrested in the typhoon K&N although its expensive and ive heard its best to remap after - Any experience on this? I have a K&N panel filter on its way so im not sure which would benefit more

remapping - Not yet, but i would like to know more about it. Best places in Hampshire etc..

Aesthetics - Now i want to mesh the bottoms grill and the hood scoop. ive seen some lovely examples but where can i get this ive searched online and couldnt find anything! -
The fog light covers... is there anyway like the old scoobys you can get the inserts that have like STI written on them? I think that looks so cool and im not really a fan of what they have done with the covers! -
Rear lights, some of you gave me suggestions on the tint overlays but i still couldnt find anywhere to buy them! Further help please?

Engine - TMIC now mine is just silver in colour and nothing else... why does it not say STI? or do they not say this? and whats the difference between mine and say one with STI on it? -
Dump values, im new to turbos so what is the benifit of one, are they worth any gains?

Nice to be part of the gang, some lovely cars on here! Thanks for your help if you do reply!

Yes taking it out will help but for full burble you'll need something less restrictive, H&S etc

Induction - Very intrested in the typhoon K&N although its expensive and ive heard its best to remap after - Any experience on this? I have a K&N panel filter on its way so im not sure which would benefit more
AEM is the CAI of choice, will need a remap though.

Dynamix or Jolly Green Monster travel but lots of options here.

Zunsport grilles

No but an oe fog light kit makes it look pretty sharp

Rear lights, some of you gave me suggestions on the tint overlays but i still couldnt find anywhere to buy them! Further help please?
Blubat film, search for that on photobucket IIRC

No, MY08 on are blank, but you can do what I have done to both my hatch and saloon.

Here are some slightly poor pics from my phone, hopefully gives you an idea.

The fronts fit similar to the version 2 RA ones with the bracket hidden behind the flap.

Hi all - hope this is the right place to ask, but seriously considering getting an STI hatch, probably looking at one with around 20k miles from 2010 when one turns up... I've currently got a Seat Leon FR chipped to 240bhp and before that had a BMW 120d but always wanted an Impreza. Anyway got a few questions (as never owned one before), hope someone can answer;
1) What happens if you're going round a sharp corner and floor it? My Leon will understeer off the road and my old 120d would massively oversteer - just curious how the impreza would react in this situation (assuming you have all the computers turned off)
2) Part of the reason why I want an Impreza is with my Leon even in 3rd gear on slippery wet roads it loses traction - I assume this won't happen? With 300bhp and 4wd I assume it's very rare you lose traction even on wet roads?
3) What fuel consumption really like? Currently I average about 28mpg with mostly A road driving, I can stretch it to 40mpg if I sit at 65mph on a motorway, or under 20mpg if I'm pushing on a bit on country roads. Will the sti be horrendously worse than this?
4) I like the metal (effect?) trim around the exhaust tips that i've seen on some models, can you retro-fit this onto ones that don't have it?

Cheers.

Hi,
Just my experiances....

1) Tight corner, boot it - may understeer a little ( depends if you have changed anti roll bars / geometry ) especially if you are too fast on corner entry, but generally just squats down and grips and goes round. May even get a 4 wheel drift going on!

2) Depends how hard you are trying - wet black ice, lost traction all round. In snow, lock diff and great in straight lines poor on corners. With the std aids on ( you'll soon get fed up with turning off the driver-aids every time you start up! ) and they don't do any harm unless you really wanna push! General loss of grip just on booting it is not a frequent occurrence, it does stick - 150 bhp per axle helps. Slight understeer if greasy or a bit quick into a bend.

3) Around 24 mpg average, 21-22 ish pressing on, maybe 28-30 on motorway run. I think the cruise control uses more petrol on a run!! That was for both my Sti, and STi 330S.

4) Yes, dealer supplied parts, ( metal coloured plastic IIRC ) simple drill and screw I think. May be some 2nd hand knocking around on here or the hatch forum.

Can anyone link me to a thread of someone from the UK spraying their rear lights instead of the film?

I have a red reverse light in mine and i feel if i get overlays its going to look un even. Ive been searching for ages but cant find anything relevant.

Also does anyone know where to buy like transparent red spray from? All i can find is normal spray paint!

And why not pop a clear fog on to balance the rear out with a red bulb.

what do you think to them really?

Do they look a bit small on the car?

EvoBits don't seem to be answering emails or via FaceBook.. so might not bother with them, they have no phone number either.

Looking good, but...get your alloys sprayed in matt black or anthracite.

dead easy to do yourself, or get the wheel specialist to powder coat them with a same day turn around for about £230 a set
