So you went down the tuning route first ;-) I'm going down the "right let's sort out the boat like handling" route! Got Tein springs fitted and next month it's getting a white line ALK, white line adjustable front and rear ARBs, white line drop links and a fast road geo setup. I can't wait as the difference the springs made was unreal ;-) oh and getting wheels redone in gloss black

This is my First scoobie and as I came from a 20v turbo mk4 golf it's plenty fast for me at the moment, I just couldnt live with the wollowy ride lol.

On a different note I have just read that the my08 WRX and the my09 wrx have many differences including a different turbo on the my09 cars, my car is a 10 plate so how do I tell what model I have and is it true about the changes?

This is a copy and paste from the article I read,

In response to criticism that the third generation WRX suspension is too soft, and needing to keep on par with rival car companies new releases, Subaru issued several changes in 2008 for the 2009 model year. The EJ255 engine received an output boost to 198*kW (265*hp) and 331*N·m (244*lb·ft) of torque by swapping the previous TD04 turbocharger to an IHI VF52. This lended to the car now achieving a 0-60 time of just 4.7 seconds, as tested by Car and Driver.[7] In addition, the updated model received stiffer suspension parts from the STI and an aerodynamic package. Cosmetic changes included an updated mesh grill with WRX badge and darker wheels.

Don't shoot the messenger lol just thought I would post it up

Maybe US cars, but UK wrx has same turbo for MY08/09/10

It's different for MY11

To check Model Year look at 10th character of VIN

8 - 2008 (MY08)
9 - 2009 (MY09)
A - 2010 (MY10)
B - 2011 (MY11)

Is the vf52 the better turbo? Any idea whats the max power it will make? I've been told 280bhp Is the max my car will make but they seemed to think my car was fitted with a TD04 so they might have been using that as a base for their assumption!

280 is about the limits of the intercooler more than anything.

yours wont be a td04 I can assure you. as the vf52 runs flange fittings for the intercooler where as the td04 runs a conventional hose setup to the intercooler

your turbo style, this is a vf40 but the 52 is similar in design

old wrx turbo td04l

Cheers for the info ;-) do you know if an inlet manifold from an RB320 fit my car to replace the plastic one fitted? If not do you know what would fit? So would it be a worth while upgrade to fit an STI hatch intercooler?

It will fit but you need to look at intake pipe under the manifold, Throttle body & wiring loom for the engine. as the sensor locations are slightly different

If that's the case would I better of just trying to source the parts you listed from a STI hatch?

Are there a lot of differences between my WRXS engine and the STI engine? Other than inlet manifold, smaller intercooler?

Oh and if it helps anyone in the future, the company they used to host the website has gone bust and they only have limited access to the web page and can only make minor tweaks.
Ok so nothing has arrived a though I was told at latest end of the week. Not even a call to apologise and keep me in the loop, so looks like another call on Monday to find out what is going on! F'ing joke. Ordered it 10 days ago so I could finish the rear end off before the prodrive event on Sunday. Will not be using them again that's for sure, would rather go without then give them any more cash, albeit petty but if we ran our business in this manor we wouldn't have one left.

Did you try Iain Litchfield before ordering from Rev? He used to always have them in stock.

Might be worth a call if you haven't already done so and if he's got one you could always cancel your existing order.
