But....
Subaru don't state 99ron though and as I understand some cars that have been run solely on 99 have gone kaput anyway.

It does state use only 99 ron inside the fuel filler flap.

I am not saying this is the cure, because you can still suffer pre detonation using 99 ron fuel, but it does significantly reduce the possibility.

May be a very very small risk of V power causing issues (Rob has had a bad experience)

The main issue without a doubt is the design and quality of the pistons. They are not up to the job, never have been and never will be

Subaru have done nothing IMHO to ease the concerns of there customers and i am another one who is very unlikely to be considering Subaru when the time comes to change.

Great shame really. This is my third Subaru and by far the best all round car. The engine worries have however over shadowed the enjoyment of the car.

As a brand, my own opinion is that Subaru have pressed the self distruct button and are losing a hugely loyal customer base.

I for one would like to see them face up to the problem. It is all good and well fixing the cars (reluctantly) whilst still under warranty but as said before, let's see how loyal they are once warranties start to expire.

Allthough I have expressed interest in the New saloon and Pre-Ordered one, I actually requested that I swap the engine from my hatchback over to the new car. Pure and simply because I know whats gonna happen.

But according to subaru the MY09 onwards have address some changes on the production line with these cars But no details are available..

We'll my car doesn't state 99ron - 330S

Plus fact is that over here in N.Ireland you don't have such fuel anyway - super unleaded is your lot

This is the daft bit. If they recognise the issue they should recall and fix to help protect there reputation.

It's been one big cover up IMHO. So short sited by Subaru, it really is

On a completely different tack ! .........
Could somebody please remind me how to get the DVD screeen to play while the car is moving -I believe there is a handbrake lead that needs disabling, anyone know which one and if there is anything else to do ? I seem to remember someone sussing this out earlier but could not find it
The HKS Camp2 monitoring system works OK apart from when you are moving !!

Cheers

Default REDUCED

Really wanting my news rims so these are reduced to £750 for wheels alone, remember boxed and £275 each from stealer.

Retail at Subaru is £275 per wheel without tyres, £1100 a set.

I'd be looking at £850 for wheels alone (boxed) or I could put my Dunlops on with a fair amount of tread on for £1000.

Here's a pic of the wheels for those of you who do not know what they look like, please note though that these are not the actual wheels for sale, they are on their way from Subaru so do not have any pictures yet.

Any questions please ask.

Thanks
Abz

Gave up trying to look through all 118 pages... trying to decide what suspension springs (or coilovers maybe) to go for, any pics or experiences you'd like to share from a hatch STi perspective

Tony.

Cheers guys, I very nearly bought BC for my hawkeye before moving away from Subaru... seems they are still well thought of then. Do the hatches suffer from rear shock knocking, did the different geometry/set up stop this?

Also codie247, was that your car at Graham Walkers today???

My coilovers do make the odd noise on the rears, but i put that down to the fact its all bearing mounted on the camber plates and theres no rubber mounting to stop the noises traveling through the car. mines sat on 6kg/8kg spring rates.

I am in the same boat, I am seriously thinking of selling up and buying a 2 door STi classic for playing and a derv for everyday.

Always in the back of my mind that it is going to go pop when putting the foot down

Cheaper than chopping in the Hatch and forking out for a new car.

I did mine myself and it just cost me around £1500 for parts no labour cost for my time 1600 miles on the clock now and 3 oil changes done going like a real one, Ready for the big 500 lol

a rebuild through the dealers using genuine parts is rediculous

Ask a few reliable people - Enginetuner (Alan Jeffery 01752 345880 - say I recommended him !)

Got to be cheaper and more reliable than swapping Hatch for a new one.
Plus its good for further mods later
