just split up with the wife after 13 years, what im doing is working extra shifts to keep me busy, ive picked a lady friend up to help pass some more time and taken up downhill mountain biking so all in all i dont have much time on my hands to think about her.

Keep yourself busy and tell yourself every morning when you wake up, why you broke up with each other.
Do not go out looking for a **** as it will all end with empty expectations of the closeness you had.
Be positive and spend time doing something you really want, fishing, sports, the gym, or something else to keep you busy.

Bob T. I am similar to you I think with the positivity thing, I guess that's the first big step, realising things will get better

The Samaratians deny that cuts in their training budget is having an adverse effect on the quality of their counsel!!
To the OP:
1) As much as it may hurt right now, it WILL get better given time. We have ALL been there, trust me!
2) You need to want to move on: don't sit around and torture yourself: it's done, she's gonna move on, whatever you do, so you may as well be happy!
3) Absolutely NO contact with her whilst you're getting your life back together; it will only delay the healing, even if it's well-intentioned on either side. Maybe in time you'll be able to salvage a friendship, but right now YOU have to now do what is right for YOU, not her.
4) Get out there with your mates and enjoy the single life. Sounds cliche', but there are pros and cons to both being single and attached. If you focus on what you're missing rather than what you've gained, you'll make yourself miserable
5) You broke up for a reason: never go back. Easy to idealise exs, but a band called Marillion came up with a great analogy: looking back on past relationships is like looking at a star, you see something for how it was a long time ago, but the truth is what you're looking at is long gone!
6) There will be others if you look and don't get all bitter about past failings. Count on it
Feel better soon!

Life is an uphill struggle designed only to inflict pain and misery onto yourself and others live with it

High class hooker and a bag of snow!
Serioulsy though, go to a different town, pull the first thing that shows a bit of interest, **** it to death, then in the morning youll feel a little bit better.
Do the same next week and the week after and youll feel great, plus have a few more notches on the bed post!
