Yup full strip, i had to cut a good chunk out the dash too, from start to now about 4 weeks of evenings. Thats stripped, cleaned, welded in, fitted and painted, Im about 2-3 days off getting all the wiring back in and clocks re-fitted. So should be done for the weekend.

Its going to be real noisey inside now tho

I had an OMP in my 4 door UK classic. Good bit of kit and a very good fit.
Regarding seats and seat tubes OMP make subaru specific sub frames for their seats.

Just read the write up on that link.
it says that they are rear only cages and designed as a cosmetic addition. so i interpret that to mean SH@TE for actual safety..
You lads that are currently fitting them, what you doing about colour?? Powdercoat?paint?

think i might go with the omp cage then paint it. the saftey devices one is dearer but comes already painted black. but its about £200 dearer. i would like to see how it fits in and what work is involved with the saftey devices cage before i make a decision. Spoke to scoobyclinic in chesterfield and they said that they had a couple of cars there with them fitted for me to look at but that means a trek. And once im there i will end up spending money.

I could live with a gusseted main loop with a bolt-on rear section, and maybe the front too ! Hmmmm

dunx

P.S Yes it would be custom made, but easy for them ?

What do you mean by gusseted?? are you refering to the box section welded in to supprt the cage?

Try these:

Back seat is really just for one person now though. It also really does weigh nothing, so left in for the moment. Have had to cut the bolsters off the side of the rear though- all else intact

this is a really good thread.i was asking recently the same questions as i wanted to fit a cage as i plan to do the odd track day next year.i found both omp and cusco do a cage for my bug which bolt in and could also remove the rear diagonal as i use it as a daily driver too.however, they all seemed to attach to the rear bulkhead which meant removing or 'adjusting'the rear seat.im after one that retains a good degree of passenger comfort without resorting to removing bars or modifying the interior.

result? build my own at work.this way i can route the bars close to roof line and dash and i found i can route the rear bars to the parcel shelf, picking up the bootlid hinge mounting points.this plus an bracket from there to the rear strut tops make for a pretty rigid cage.i can then put as many/as little extra bars in as i feel fit.all bolt in as im not planning to go racing, although ill probably over engineer it!!!just for a bit more safety. i post some pics when ive done it as ive only got the middle hoop done so far lol!its a pain as i still need to use car everyday.

unlikely I am afraid, part way though altering fuel pump setup and away in ireland until next week so unlikely to get time to finish it.
