I've been in a similar situation & took the decision to take on less work & stop working weekends, etc. I reduced the number of staff we have & changed the type of work we do to something less stressful. Why bother killing yourself just so you can have the dubious honour of paying a bigger corporation tax bill ?

Blimey Stephen, sorry to hear this matey

I can only echo what other people here have said. Yes it's lovely to have all the trappings of wealth but not if you end up paying the ultimate price to get and maintain them.

Offer a very good wage and get an excellent manager in to take some of the workload off of your shoulders then sit back and chill out with the kids for a bit

Mate, if they thought you had a TIA then spend some of your hard earnt money and see a good neurologist this week. You need thorough investigation ASAP. I won't bore you with the medical details but if you don't get this looked into as a priority then you are being very very silly.
I wish you the best.

Take it easy and get a second opinion........ a woman I work with, her husband recently went to the docs as he had been getting chest pains. Doctor said "you have had a heart attack" so crapping himself, as you would expect, his wife took him to hospital ASAP.

After the hospital ran several tests turns out he hadn't had a heart attack at all (apparently when you have a heart attack there is traces of something in your blood?) and the staff at the hospital were rather surprised that the doctor told him this in the first place.

Take it easy though, moneys no good to you when you are six feet under in your box.

A lot of people who are self employed work all the hours god sends and never take a holiday etc.
Being self employed however, is the best way there is to work whatever hours you like and take holidays when you want.
You have done the hard work to get the business up and running, so now you need to work out how to run it without always being there.
Might mean less profit - but f*ck it - smell the roses fella.

You are what you eat.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments, they really do mean a lot

I have decided to bite the bullet so to speak & i am starting an op's manager this coming monday, i have just literally spoke to the guy & he's a friend of a friend so he's well aware of what is expected of him. I'll eventually let him take over the running of the transport business once i feel i can let go. The plant business is what takes me all over the world so i'll keep that to myself
A change of diet & a change from drinking beers to wine should also help. Took the dogs for a long walk across the fields tonight & feel great for it.
Thanks again for the comments.

Get the balance right matey. Take stock and ease up. There is more to life than dying young with a healthy bank balance. Hope things go OK for you.
