Maybe a long shot but does anyone have a bore scope that they could lend me (or do it for me so they know what they are looking at) so i can see what damage has been done to my engine before i decide what to do next

Thanks
Ian

Bad luck yesterday Granby, keep your chin up. You looked like you were adamant you were going to get it running again.

Dont bother with the borescope, just get the engine whipped out and pulled apart (heads off at least), you know piston number 3 is fubarred, so looking at it with a borescope isnt going to tell you any different.

Good luck with the next phase.

they do, but you could always pick up some non AVCS heads and sell the AVCS on or even go back down the OE sti ECU route...the AVCS heads are one extra sensor and solenoid per side iirc

Got my spark plugs back from NGK today after they examined them to find out why one should break up

There conclusions were that it was caused by severe overheating and that is was down to abnormal combustion

Abnormal Combustion
Abnormal combustion reasons include ignition timing related problems, oil entering the combustion chamber, leaking fuel injector or spray pattern etc

I may have missed something, but how do you know exactly that the piston has 'gone'?

I suspect that compression is down, but is the engine breathing excessively?
