I still think you will get a faster response from the cars issuer. The have dedicated fraud teams that will get all the required evidence and take the matter forward a lot faster.

Agree we do need more police ,that said we could also do with a good clear out of some of the waste of space currently employed by the police force .

Timwinner.... I note your comment about more Police

just off topic for a moment (I guess you are a PC) Do you have another job ??

apparantly hundreds of Police in my area have a second job despite having a full time contract. I work full time and have no time for another job !

Maybe if the hundreds of PC's with other jobs gave them up and worked "overtime" for UK PLC there might me more police about

Send him a box of rattlesnakes, or if they're too hard to come by, some brown recluse spiders, or if you can't get them, some bluebottle maggots but leave them in the box in the sun a couple of days so they hatch, if you can't get them, a box of dog crap.

Once again it goes to show that the wrong doers of this country can get away with all kinds of things, because the police don't / can't / won't do anything.

Here is someone willing to point out card fraud, calls the police, then nothing.

Do people wonder why many people now don't involve the police?

And if nothing is done by the police, and you put in a complaint, what happens? They cover for each other. We had exactly that scenario.

Police made a false statement about interviewing us about a theft (we knew neither of us were at the business premises on the day they 'interviewed' us.)
When we pursued it we were told the case was closed following the interview.............

I put in a complaint; their response - the officer entered the report on interviewing us 'by mistake'.....! We were told if we wanted to take it further we were to employ a solicitor.

Why do the police have such a bad reputation - because the majority of the british public get treated like us and the OP who are trying to help cut crime!

Lets be honest here...

If you could do some geeky, un threatening motorist for doing 34 in a 30 or having darker windows than 70% or a miss placed letter in their number plate 4mm off centre etc.

Then give them a fine, tick all the boxes for your boss, takes 10 mins of your time for a solved crime, good for the stats, then off to the next victim.....or a burger/buttie bar.

Or would you...

Take time to do some real work on crimes like Credit Card fraud, robbery, assault, where you have to do some proper digging about, taking time and effort, confronting proper criminals, not getting the easy quick open and shut case that you would like.

What would you do....?

I know what I would do, because Im a lazy ba5tard.

Later Yoza

As Ive said before, I work in factory of 3000 people, some work hard, some are work shy, some take pride in what they do, some dont, some take on issues to get a result, some just want to clock off and go home, some are sound people, some are w4nkers...its the same in the Police force.

It won't be of interest to your local force, assuming it is in another force area.

The card issuers usually do the investigating for low level stuff and then pass their findings to the relevant police force.
Is it too difficult for the local force to issue a crime number and to refer the matter to the relevant police force?

They just fax the details to the relevant force.

A crime number is then generated once they take it on.

If the OP is reporting the crime as reg company then he won't be subject the the Victims' Code of Practice, meaning he will wait longer to be contacted by the force investigating. There are strict time limits for certain victims - but these don't apply to companies.

Why would the police want to do anything? It would only encourage other victims to report crime, and the crime figures would go up, making it look as though they weren't doing their job!
By doing nothing, they discourage others from reporting crime, so the crime figures go down. Job done!

Red face Phone call last night

Ok,

So after explaining my story and the details to three different police units , Kent , London, maidstone.... I got a call last night from a Police man .... who basically took all the details again - Phone numbers, email addresses, I.p address,Names etc ... I got a reply at the end of the conversation " What would you like us to do about it"

Hand on my heart! those were his words! My reply was , mmm try and catch the guy. So after that he said , well we could look into it more but do you really want to be travelling down to sheerness to go to court 2-3 times which may take upto 18months when you haven't lost out on anything?

My reply was, it's not about me. Its about the poor people that are having there cards used, and it most likely is not just on my site ....

He said, well if he trys it again , let me know and well look into it further.........

Case closed!

I feel you put more effort into this than the police.
Why doesn't that surprise me. I feel sorry for the card owners.

This doesn't surprise me at all. However try touching the scumbag hoodie that's kicking down your fence and all hell breaks loose, police vans, dogs, the works.

"Right then what do we 'ave 'ere".

"An exemplary citizen trying to protect 'is said property from being vandalised" "BOOK HIM!!!"
