Frayz why not buy some flat carbon sheet and make your own up,cut into the sheet for door handle latches etc ??? and drill holes for the oem button clips that hold them in place against the oem door panel dont forget if your fitting cage X bars the oem panels will clash with the bars so you will need to get rid of the door cards anyway

 

Yeah I know they have gotta go dude.
Unsure if they will take a flat panel, I need to have a proper look.
Flat panel carbon in that sorts of size will be pretty expensive as it is.
Another idea is a thin panel of ABS and trim it in alcantara.

Cost effective, clean and lightweight.

Yeah it's taking another direction but more of an evolution of the car. I've still got so many ideas for it. It's almost ready for cage work now.
Really looking forward to making the car more focused and achieving some ideas that I've wanted to do for so long.

Gonna probably be a bit quiet in here for a few weeks. The car will be making a special trip at the start of Feb to have her cage made. Till then, there's not much I can do but try and save as much cash as possible to find her upgrades. lol.

Looking good, are you cutting the spare wheel well out? a bit of weight saving to be had there I reckon + not carrying a spare wheel/jack. There's not many new cars that come with a spare wheel nowadays.

 

Toyed with the idea. However nobody can give me an actual weight saving and I kinda think it's too brutal to do to the car. Also allows me to take a spare should I want to.

 

You should machine up some titanium driveshafts and aluminum hubs, lots of heavy metal there to get rid off.
All sprung mass too

The machining is hardly the problem. Have you seen the price for titanium billet and bar stock lately, leave alone the cost of tooling to machine it.
If it were as easy as that, every man and his dog would be at it.

Only way to do it properly would be to move the B pillar back and extend the front doors. However they never did a 3 door newage and I don't think the proportions look right on any I've seen.
The only one I think would lend itself well to a 3 door body would be a hatch.
