yea i remember the thread.
was whole-heartedly behind a membership fee. Had spoken to a few people re sponsorship which could of benefitted all members via discounted clothing etc, but a lot of ideas were blown out of the water.
at the time of the idea of voting mods there were basically 3 mods gone. those left were under the impression that the were omnipotent and could do as they pleased ruling with an iron rod.
some of the contributions from mods had been non existant but yet they feel they know best.
it's ok for some rules but it has gone over the top lately with rumours of how anyone attending events have to follow the rules of one or two people!!!

Have more a more uniformed approach - i.e. everyone do the same

Allow adults to have threads posted of their own choice instead of ***** footing about deleting stuff incase it might offend someone else.
For example, some people wanted to show their disgust at N.Ireland's recent shenanigans.

This is just an example, but no. The mods deemed it necessary that we are not infact adults at all, adn we will discuss things that only they deem appropriate.

Meets/events etc are also another area.
For instance a lot of the people I work with poked tremendous fun at my expence because of the organising of cars in attendence, i.e. Blue cars, then white, then red etc etc
A tad over the top is is not?

As I said, I don't post much on SI anyway and normally stay confined within scoobynet.

So, being an infrequent poster maybe makes my views irrelevent anyway?

An other thing is the alias accounts.
Fellas - get a grip FFS and stop behaving like a fecking child, its so obvious they are alias accounts for a scoobyireland user.

Shaun

Tbh Shaun this harks back to two mods really.
Personally I felt along with Rab that it was an adult forum so people can say as they please...within reason. look at jon44 and cruisenig.
I missed some threads that took a difficult direction but due to the religious based situation here there is always seemingly drama attached to anything that includes reference to security forces.
never is there going to be a situation where all are happy but deletion of everything thats offensive to a couple of people agitates the masses.
recently ive had a mate telling me that female friends of his were offended by a SI members signature as it referenced muff diving etc.
Now i recall certain mods complaining that child protection etc needed adhered to due to it being an open forum....so why let that remain??? again down to a case of one rule for one etc......
as a contributor here said to me, people dont remember its only the internet.

lol you know how they like to play it as if they are offended tho Paul lol.
and as it is on the si if one person is offended it's usually remedied rather rapidly unless it involves a certain party or two lol.
Also sure the whole child protection thing lol, not allowed to step out of line there anyway or you get your wrists slapped!!!

I think this thread has been busier than the entire SI forum today

Sure it aint long now until the Moderators holiday is over and i'm back on the scene. Should be do a lottery and see how long it takes me to get indefinitely banned? I've got a fiver on 3minutes

Scubbay you have asked what needs to be changed:
Very simply the Moderators, they believe the site is so much bigger than it really is, i mean come on at most 30people use it, catch a grip of ones self and enjoy the site for what it is. I have been taunted on so many occasions by a certain moderator who knows he's pushing buttons but due to the mighty art of deleting threads and PM's you have to be quick to see it. This is a reason why i now hold all of them in such low disregard. I also think that the ScoobyIreland Log in, is the biggest joke known to mankind, why do you need such a thing if the moderators actions are justifiable?

I would also like to clarify that given the chance i would like to teabag at least one of the moderators bonnet.

LMFAO Paul

SI started of good but has gown severly down hill as it is no longer an enthusiast site! I remember Paul when I was up @ yours for my Andy F map and you said you know who the real enthusiasts are, out of the 20-30 users online every day only a dozen at max are enthusiasts!

When it comes to moderators I think it should be rotated and selected @ an annual meeting/car show by the members present. A mod who only logs on to delete and infract users and gives no other input should not be a mod. It would take a lot of hard work to get the site to where it was at the start. I will still use it as I have made lots of friends through it.

As far as colour co-ordinated convoys go, what can I say! Being very regimental myself I think it looks smart as **** and very organised. If it was mixed up it wouldnt look like a convoy but me more like "Oh it must be a sunday all the subaru drivers are taking their cars out"

So Far I have kept my gob shut on this topic, but I have to agree with what you have said Pete.
It should be an enthusiasts site, and indeed it was for a short while. Then we got the spammers, **** talkers, and dozy bints with bugger all else to do with their time only use SI as a social networking club.
I have to agree the colour co-ordinated convoys look absolutely fantastic and is a great head turner when out and about through various towns and villages.
I have also made a lot of good friends through the site and it seems a shame that things are going downhill because basically as I have said before a 4 year old child could join and be posting within minutes.

A very interesting read stuff being aired here that the powers that be on SI wouldnt allow.

I remember being proud to talk to people about SI and encouraging them to join the site but now the over moderation of the site has spoiled it for me theres no craic left in the site and the members daren't have a laugh for fear of being chastisied.
The whole country was reeling for the recent murders of 2 young soldiers and a police man but when I aired my disgust with the killers I was told my thread was offensive. WTF offended by people showing their disgust at the scum trying to drag Ireland back to the dark days of the past.
over moderation in the extreme !!!!!!

funny how things have gone full circle ........... more people posting here than on SI after only a year ............ whos fault is that " the moderating team " ?

I do though like the convoys being colour coded and I understand the issue with people leaving car shows at a whim there is a lot of organising goes into either putting together a show or arranging with the organisers to attend shows. I won't even mention those who jump ship at the last minute to go with a different club imo they shouldnt have put their name down in the 1st place and definatley shouldnt be asked to join the club stand again.

maybe the summer will help SI pick up again the mods might all go on holiday at the same time and the members can have a bit of fun again.

moderating a site can be a very difficult and stressful task ... but not if your fair maybe just maybe the moderating team should listen to the rank and file members before they completley ruin the site and drive all the original members away.

I think we should stop this Circus, You can't keep everyone happy all of the time unfortunately no matter how hard you try. So no more bad words about SI, either enjoy it for what it is or don't use it.

I am not happy with a minor part of it so i won't be going back to it but it doesn't mean i dislike the site or the moderators in general infact 2 of them i'd consider as geniune friends but really what good will bad mouthing it on here do. It just makes us all look petty.

Guys,

Since I probably started this whole thing off by posting a very probing question, i'll change the subject a bit.

I went to see Al Murray last night in the waterfront.
I have to say I've never laughed so much as something for as long as I can remember.
He was hilarious.
Everyone was fair game, gay's, fat people, ugly people, old people, people arriving late especially.
Bankers got a real going over.
If you get the chance I'd recommend go see the Pub Landlord.
If you don't laugh, you're either dead or there is something seriously wrong with you.

Regardless of that Andy i only have one face and that is all that matters.

I have spoken to Stu about trying to get the Northern Ireland section back running and on a good path and unfortunately if he's reading this thread now i'd feel embarrassed that I put efford into doing so. Personally what Snet and SI members need is a good ol' **** up together and remember why we're hear cus we love the Subaru Brand.

That sounds good. I have no history with any of you (or know any of you other than the nice chap in a 04/05 STi blue at an ATM at castlereagh/ballygowan road about 2months ago saying to join up) or know of any of the previous sh1te thats gone on and frankly I don't give a damn! I'm just here to a) purchase what I've been after for >10years b) look after and mod it with some sound local advice c) enjoy with other like minded owners hopefully.

Used to watch his show as the pub landlord which made myself and Mrs Terror laugh uncontrollably. I watched his sketch show there the other week and was very disappointed, it seemed to wooden or too scripted or something which just wasn't right.

I've no doubt the pub landlord gig would be a good un.

Ive been on SI for near a year now so cannt comment on the start of the site but from Ive joined the site is currently the best its ever been. Its now mostly a subaru forum. Yes it is a local subaru site BUT this doesnt mean its just for locals it means its just for subarus
Everyone was outraged at the recent events in our country but what place does it have on SI? so why complain when its removed

And for everyone setting up new accounts to comment here, grow some ***** if your man enough to bitch you should but your name to it. That also goes for everyone talking about love triangles and ship jumpers just say who up mean and get it over and done with. Thats where the problems started on SI, too much back stabing and beating around the bush.

As for what you said andy about the mods just looking for what they can get out of it would you care to explain why my posts where deleted off the window tint group buy when I suggested a company that does a great job £40 less than the "deal" that was being offered, oh and the following posts that ask where and why my posts had gone.
And while your explaining that one you can tell us why the "who's looking into who's pants" talk was started. Maybe because you where texting members asking them about another members personal life.

As for the rules are for some and not others have a look at where people are posting there is a difference between spaming every thread and every off topic thread. I know alot of people where warned about spaming but the only person to be banned has been Jam3k and afaik it wasnt for his posts it was something between him and the mods.

At the end of the day all the crap on this thread and on SI is pointless ITS A SUBARU FORUM if the posts are kept to cars, shows and what happened at the shows everyone would be happy. If you want to talk crap about other topics to the members then get out from behind your keyboard and get to the bi weekly meets, if you want to shout about other things go to the relative site, you would talk about your scoob breaking down on politics.com the why talk about politics on scoobyireland.com

Ive never spoke out about "site politics" before but I think its time for everyone to grow up. Here and SI are both subaru web sites so how about talking about subarus for a change and leave the rest of the sh**e for other places.

I hope you all enjoyed the read

Do you ever tire of being a self righteous? Do you actually think i would do something like that or maybe just maybe was it an attempt at injecting humour into the convo?

PS. I have just edited my post here because i have said something out of spite that i'm not proud of, just for anyone who actually seen it and apologise to the member it was targetted at.

i see the SI brigade have mobilised to defend the special one!!
Dont see why you edited your post James, i noted the person that had been harassing and over moderating your little self on Si and im not surprised tbh. Self righteous to the extreme but refuses to step down when he knows he has over stepped the mark.
