Just call Litchfield's if you want to know anything. The Billet's are available and have been for months.

Hi,
I’m writing from italy. I have a question for you.
I have a beautiful Sti Spec c 2007 with full deact exhaust 76 mm, cold intake pipe and map.
I would buy the new litchfield billet lm 400 , but I really don’t know for who could remap to reach the 400cv.
I'll explain: in the north part of italy , I speek with a lot specialist in subaru. Everyone told me that the 400 cv are too much for the spec c piston ,because the aren’t forged and the reliability of these is very low. ( in Italy the spec c can not be sold and very few know it ).
So I do not want to have the engine destroyed because here they do not know the car.
It’s possible copy ( paying) a map with the similar parts ( intake , exhaust) and rest easy for my pistons? Or it’s a very bad work??

Your spec c is fine for 420-450bhp many members on here have ran spec c's with that sort for power for a years reliably. Your best of coming to the UK and having it all fitted and mapped here and make a little holiday of it.

There a few mappers on here who can map your ECU and send it you ,but am not sure if it will be as good as it would mapped on the rollers or road.

I would reach near the 400 hp..
Remap in uk, one moment i try to think the cost: 1300 km , 8 km/L = 162 L of gasoline = 260 € + the hotel + tax of the highway.... etc ......
I think that is too much....

I would check your second parts. if it is possible , i could save a lot of money..

You could pay for the flight of the mapper and one night stay in italy should cost you an extra £300 for a flight from UK to Italy.

Do you know the owner of the yellow SPEC C RA-R he bought it of me last year?

Cheers for the reassurance Shaun

I think I might go for the Blouch/Scooby clinic turbo. I know it's untouched water with only the single scrolls being tested ,but the Graphs do look good plus kevs made me a very decent offer I can't refuse

Today we took off the down pipe and checked the waste gate - everything is in order.
We also checked AVCS and exhaust manifold - everything is in order.
I have also had another mapper to have a look at the map, and although he said he would do few things differently, he didn't see anything that could explain such low spool.
He also said that boost builds up very sudden, there is nothing nothing and than suddenly it jumps up to 1 bar at 4000 rpm, this is in 3rd gear pedal to the floor.

We're not sure where to look further. Next monday we're putting back my old vf36 to see how it spools, because if it spools as it is supposed to, and in fact before the lm400 it did just that, there could be some other problem with the turbocharger. This is simply to check if the turbo itself has a problem, or we néed to look elsewhere.

So for now I is not a happy bunny

Something you guys maybe in interested in, is that I'm swapping out the Billet LM400 with the new Billet LM450..... still using the OE TMIC and OE Inlet side. Results and comparisons will be interesting I'm sure.

Have a look at my project thread for the latest details and updates.

Ilya,
Hope you get it sorted.

I knew I should of put on this thread what I have just put on my project thread!

Just a note as I received quite a few PM's when I upgraded from the LM400 to Billet LM400. The Billet LM400 will not be available to buy from me... sorry.

You gonna fit the "L60" (large exhaust) to suit your 2.5, I take it?

2.5.... that went along with the Spec C mate last year!

I have a JDM 2ltr Hawkeye now, so the turbo will be small housing.

Ilya,

Surely it defeats the object of what you set out to do as you will be sacrificing drivability.

Anyway I think am finally sorted

But I reached my initial goal.... Now it's the next challenge!

What made me go for the LM450 was the test drive I took a few months back. I was pretty impressed.

Taken from my Project Thread, but this needs to be put in to context with regard to what I will be testing next week:

This was a non Billet LM450.
Not my car/engine.
Car had FMIC, different ECU, different mapper, Inlet changes (turbo inlet pipe and induction kit).

Oh yeah.... what about the LM450 Test Drive
As already mentioned Mel offered me a drive in his LM450 equipped Hawkeye Spec C and we finally managed to get this sorted today!

I was expecting lot's of lag from the turbo and engine combination, but in some ways I was very surprised by the outcome. Obviously the car has more grunt... that goes without saying (we are talking about another 50-60bhp). There is a noticeable amount of "delay" between pressing the loud peddle and getting up to peak boost, but once your on song it certainly goes!

Obviously because it's a bigger turbo you are waiting around for the boost to build, but the rpm to which you hit 1bar is only about 500rpm later than the Billet LM400 (in top gear). However it is the "dead zone" between flooring the throttle and making any decent boost that is the difference, along with response coming back on throttle. I suspect the Billet LM450 will improve upon this over the non-billet version (based on the difference the Billet wheel has made to the LM400).

Overall I was impressed with the LM450 on a 2ltr. The lesser driveability over the Billet LM400 is not a show stopper, but it does exist. It's horses for courses depending on what you want out of the car and how that best suits your driving style. Personally I feel you need to "stir" the gearbox more on the 2ltr / LM450 combo, whereas I find the Billet LM400 much more of a lazier and less frantic driving experience. OEM is the best way I can convey how the Billet LM400 feels.

As a pure road car where driveability is key... the Billet LM400 has the non-billet LM450 licked in many ways, but if you want a power delivery that is more "peaky" and certainly faster in the upper JDM rev limit (and you have a 2ltr), the LM450 feels very nice. I would expect the Billet LM450 to be nicer (driveability wise) still.

The Billet LM400 really does deliver an OEM "expectation" of driveability in my opinion.

After appreciating the benefits of the change to Billet on the LM400, the LM450 Billet is certainly on the cards..... thanks for that Mel!!!

Default LM400 Billet

Well I've had my Spec C mapped this afternoon by Bob Rawle - I won't list all the engine rebuild/mod details, you can see these my having a look at my Garage.

I have to say I have a massive smile on my face, the car is now extremely rapid and accelerates like a scolded cat. The car pulls all the way through the rev range and is so much better than the OE VF36.

Bob commented how well he thought the mapping had gone and was impressed by how well the car performed.

In short if you want to improve your JDM twin scroll and prefer driveability over being a dyno 'queen' then go for a Litchfield LM400 Billet.

ps I will be getting the car on a RR soon to see the actual performance level but the feeling from my bum dyno is a pretty good indication of how well it performs on the road.

Mappers always seem to say that for every car they have mapped "I am really impressed at how the cars responded"

When will you have some graphs

It's good to hear your happy mate thats the main thing like you said numbers on a dyno don't mean sh't unless your happy with the way your car goes.

Immy,
That's been shown on my project thread, regarding the comparison against the VF.
