My spec is...
Simtek
HS380 turbo
K&N air large cone filter
2.0 semi closed deck
foreged piston and rods
front mount
800cc injectours
stiv 5 heads
hks headres and up pipe wraped
H&S down, center and back box 2.5 all the way through with 4.5 tail pipe
And all going through a ppg gearbox.
And to answer what you asked the ST380 is what Havey sell's but have been told he has done some work to it.

the st380 and the md555 graphs look serious they both have over 400 torque, with my 20G and sti 4 heads plus 10meth i only managed 375 torque, so thats the 20G out of the equation.
what kind of price does the st380 go for or md555?

900 or even 1300 pounds that isnt too bad for two very good turbos and here i was thought the 20G was the dogs...... for what your getting they both sound like good value for money.

Not including VAT it isn't
I doubt you could go wrong with one of Harveys Turbos at the money he sells them for, especially as they are proving to be very good at what they are supposed to do, If you are not looking for loads more than 400bhp then what could be better, If I didn't want 450+ then I would not hesitate to run with a HS 380/420 Turbo

£1395+vat+fitting kit= could be looking between £1700-£1800
This from Turbo Dynamics this morning- not sure about the fitting kit, they don't supply it with the turbo-for a newage it has to be got from your tuner and they're not cheap

I used to run a 321H on my JDM STI bug eye (standard 2.0L engine) and that made 410bhp/365 lbs at 1.6 bar peak. Peak boost was around 3700 so I didn't find it laggy tbh. It held boost right through the rev range. Was a cracking turbo for a 2.0L.

Just as a matter of interest I've taken the BHP figures from the two graphs supplied from this post and set them alongside the BHP figures from my own VF34 graph.
Of course these are figures on paper and how it all transmits to the road is the point.
The MD is brutal when it comes in and the question for me is, is the 380 enough of a step up to justify the change
Appologies the figures have squashed together but they read off from the left

All so that was running 10% meth's so you can't really compare it with the 2 others

Trevor,
Don't expect to get get similar power on your WRX to an STI running the same spec!
When we some of these turbos compared on the same car, same dyno, then you will have some meaningful results. I have seen/mapped too many cars that have not made the grade with some of the "450+hp" turbos. In fact, for the average car, there is still no 500hp bolt on turbo available.

The MD figures I took from the graph on the first page of this thread, is it the MD195?
The VF34 also is run on 10%meth so it would appear the HS380 sits like a rose between two thorns.

So guys i mapped up the HS380 today with slowboy-racing and this is my findings???
First of all we need to all stop comparing this (HS380) with the MD321H as this is not a 400bhp turbo it is a 380 as it states in it's name. The only way it will run 400+ is with Meth's.
So here are my maps...
As said this is not a 400bhp turbo with out meths so i only ran it on meths for that magic 400
Here is a 2nd map of the same comparing this turbo with my old MD321T what i thought was to big for a 2.0 and so sold it and brought the HS380 to get faster spool and still the magic 400.
Blue line is the HS380 and Red the MD321T
As you can see the new turbo works great for my car, nice fast spool and 411bhp is good for me as my name states.
What id like to know now is what the HS420 would do? Harvey feel like sending me one?
Do i like this turbo
Yes And so did the police who pulled me on my way home and said they were doing 80 and still could not catch up with me
Ash
Big thanks goes out to Niel from Slowboy-racing for his hard wrk he put in on the car today

Probably not, and unless someone says it people will forget how much earlier a car will spool up on meth and the added ignition timing that goes with it.
That is a nice result Ash none the less, enjoy your new found low end grunt !
