The big thing about the new FRS is its cornering abilities, especially in comparison to similarly priced 4WD cars. Any comparison between two cars on a straight road will give little indication of its overall abilities, just how much power it has over its weight, with a minor influence from its specific drivetrain. What you are more likely to be able to compare is the size of the drivers *****, or perhaps brain. From a rolling start AWD will give little/no benefit unless the surface is compromised by wet/dirt, in fact the mechanical resistance (drivetrain losses) can sap available power. With 370bhp and 1530kg your R33 would have IRO 240bhp/tonne (metric) to the FRS's 205, so on paper you should have it licked in a straight line, not taking aerodynamics into account. On track, or any challenging b-road I doubt the lumbering RWD Nissan would offer much of a challenge, based solely on what I have seen and read about the new Ford.

There was a chap on another car forum who had had a full white respray on his MK1 FRS.
It could have been him.
ETA - found it

that white rs looks funny.
your always gonna get this competition, its like putting a 2.0 red top lump in an nova and rinsing out a lambo on a drag, yer its cool cos uve just wasted a ****ing expensive car, but wouldnt u rather be in the expensive car lol even if it was slightly slower.

Ok i think i may have fooked up in the way that i thought that it was an rs which if they havent been released yet im obvousley wrong, i retract statements.
Also the car is insured under the same insurance as his r8 and 360 i think its some sort off blanket insurance? that covers him for anything he wants to drive.
But the point that im struggerling to make is, This new focus is being hyped up to death You would honustly think that it was the be all and end all off all cars. And to be fair and honust i was starting to think about getting one but then today when i thought we had beat one (i was wrong about car but kid was still a ****!) I though why would i want to have all that money in a car that can be thrashed by an old nissan!
As said i retract statement about beating one. I do think the skyliner will have ago at an rs.

Aren't you missing the point of the new RS?
It's a NEW car as opposed to a 15 year old tuned car. It comes with warranty, lots of toys and comforts. From the reports I've read, it carries immense corner speed and has pushed the boundries of front wheel drive to a comlete new level never seen before.
It's the advancements of the front wheel drive geometry that make it drive like it does yet only have 2wd transmission losses that make it so controvercial. Anything that raises an eyebrow or 2 will get the press and the public talking.
The problem is, the car has to live up to the hype that everybody else other than Ford have created. All they said was that they were going to produce a 300PS FWD car. Apparently, thats not allowed.
Although I would have prefered a car with 4x4 to allow much more scope to tune it to death, I think it's great that the boundries of FWD have been pushed much further.
But after all, why buy a new car that drives, handles, goes, stops, etc etc well with warranty that you can use day to day and track it then go to the shops in, when you can buy a 15 year old car thats been thrashed to death thats been tuned but doesn't handle or drive as weel etc etc.... you get the point.

You know that.
The OP doesn't seem to.
And as we all know (except the OP, possibly), the new FRS isn't out just yet.

There are a lot of press cars floating around though. A white was tested over here on some airfield a while back so its not impossible to see one on the roads - it just won't be owned by the driver.

This thread is awful lol
The RS might be getting a lot of hype but no where does it say it will be extremely quick in a straight line!!
Put the skyline against it down a bumpy b-road and I'm sure the focus would do better

they do have alot of torque though, ive got a st at the mo ,so easy to tune and cheap £500 got me an extra 65 hp and 110 nm - 1st and 2nd are torque limited but 3rd and 4th really do pull like a train but in the st traction is a problem unless the roads are bone dry, i think mine would give you a good run for your money, not saying it would beat it mind
