I have an interest in surfing and it's something i've always wanted to get into/try. I have respect for anyone who can do it to a decent level and as for the "big wave" guy's well **** me they have ***** of steel

What i'm struggling to see is why you keep taking a snipe at golf? Whats wrong with it? After all the worlds most famous / richest sportsman is a golfer and will earn more money in a year than Kelly Slater will earn his entire life!!!

I play quite a bit of golf but still take a snipe at it myself.

I love the game but hate the 'golf club brigade', the stupid feckin clothes, the car park 'must have a BMW 3 series with a personalised plate (normally something like COC 123 or TEE 999 and always in silver) or the obligitory Audi A4. Along with peroxide blonde, over made up, wife.

Game is stuffY here and dress etiquette is OTT in relation to current day life.

Played alot in New Zealand and the game is much more accessible, welcoming to families and generally a damned sight more relaxed than it is over here.

However, I'll never take a snipe at the actual game which I love but I hate the crowd in the office (I work for an Investment Management Company) who eat, live, breathe golf. I never mention I play these days, to avoid having to suffer the many corporate days of utter **** licking that I've seen in the past.

And breathe

Agreed with Si, love playing the game with my mates and taking a nice stroll around the countryside but they all seem to be big old country mansions with ridiculous rules.

Golf is fine as a game (Kelly Slater is a very good golfer as are lots of top surfers - lots of good courses are near the sea!) but I can't stand the waffle that goes with it.
Same goes for mates of mine that play - one plays off 5 yet looks nothing like a golfer and never witters on about it.

I have played a few times - it's okay but the second someone gets snotty on a course, they get clubbed.

I also hate the way it seems to be such an extension of work - sod that. Either work or play.

I agree that golf has a stigma attached to it, always has! I play to a good level (used to be a pro) and i love the game. It's my number one passion but like your mate Matt i don't waffle on about it outside the club and none of my mates play. Which i like!

I've known multi million pound deals to be done on a golf course. Some see it better to be relaxed on a course talking business instead of in a board room in suits! I know which i'd prefer

Matteeboy's posts on the other forum could come across as sniping and clearly say a lot about him.

Matte men who don't like football are:

A) Gay
B) Rubbish at it
C) Of a nervous disposition

They usually end up going to the local Judo club when they are about thirteen as they have it in their heads "I'll show those football bullies who's tough".

They then flap around dressed in white duvet outfit learning how to wrestle like a gay panda, whilst contiguously spouting about how they are only interested in their chosen line of gay self defence for the health benefits.

They have no qualms about drinking vodka, lime and lemonades in crowded pubs but are generally in mortal fear should they have to share a pub space with the alpha male type football fans. This is fine as they end up staying at home on a Saturday afternoon mowing their lawns and generally keeping out of my way.

They will contiguously bore you with stories about the latest escapade in their amazing life, which will usually involve a mixture of the latest "extreme" sport such as mountain biking and attempt to regale you of stories of past conquests whilst punctuating themselves with undertones of the hard man image they developed at the gay panda Judo club. Comments such as "The little twerps wont be so lucky next time" and "If my missus wasn't there to stop be it would have been a different story"

Ultimately though they will always, always be jealous of the males who managed to enter the pack and play for the school football team. Even after most of their life has past, and they are sitting in the nursing home next to the guy who bullied them off the football pitch when they were thirteen, they will always feel frustrated that no matter what they tried they could never be the equal of the boys who laughed at them.

Sound familiar?

The old "searching for other posts" trick. JLC and I have been taking the pi55 out of each other for about 5 years. All good fun. See he actually surfs and does stuff too.
Unlike many of you who sit on your ***** playing Xbox 360s and then moan at how bad your lives are...

Oh and I've never done Judo...

If you read that thread properly, you will realise that it became rather a classic. I'm actually quite proud of it.
