Agree with Steven you will need to cut it up to get it in, that cage has been modded in situ

 

Cut it and use two of these, assuming diameter of tube is same

Bolt-in sleeve kit - BS40/BS45

I was looking at the welds earlier and it does look as if one extra cross bar on the back has been added, as well as the harness strap bar... I don't think the B-Pillar bar had been added as the welds on that look like they are from factory

 

Think ill be having another go at it this weekend, ill be taking the angle grinder down with me too, it will be going in this weekend

Update: 10th October 2009

Well I had a bit of a brake from doing things on the track car, as I've just paid off my mate from his half of the car, so i own the whole thing now....

Anyway today, the usual gang of us went back to try and get the roll cage in, and after about an hour its in!!! (thank god!)

I only ended up cutting one bar off the cage (the lower bar that went behind the seats - this didn't come as standard with the roll cage and wouldn't let me put my seat all the back anyway)

Now the car has a few outwards dents in the roof from when it was man-handled in, but I'm not fussed as ill probably put some vinyl on the roof.

So now the cage is in, it was the task of re-building the car, rear door went on no problem, then it came to putting the front door on... erm where are the bolts... so we are now missing 4 bolts that hold the front door on (although i have the pin for the door stop)

So we then put the seats back in, passenger seat went in fine... went to do the drivers side, and again hit a problem, erm where are the bolts for the drivers seat :O

So we havent got a clue where they are, as we checked through the box we have which we held all the bolts in and there isnt any!

So ive now put a wanted thread up for the bolts im missing.

I've now just finished spraying my other set of rims for the slicks to go on, so should be putting the slicks on the rims on Monday before i go to uni

Next task is to find where this bloody oil leak is.... now its somewhere above the turbo up pipe, as it drips onto that then down the up pipe and onto the floor (started the car up after its been sat for a few months, and all the oil was burning off the up pipe)

So the car is nearly finished.... now need to find another job and buy a trailer next, them im sorted for the next season

Will update this thread with some pictures when my mate gets them off his phone, also have a box full of parts that i need to sell.

Cheers for that... will hopefully be running a few tracks this coming year as long as i get a trailer sorted... i want to get on track for Japfest this year, will also be on croft for track days (as its just down the road from me) and hope to get on Donnington this year, and maybe some others when they come up.

exactly how i had to get mine in then i re-welded it back in good luck with the build

edit: did you weld in the L brackets? i had to remove fuel lines todo mine just a heads up...

 

nope mine didnt come with L brackets, just plates that get welded on the outside/inside of the car body and the bolts then go through that....

Next job i think i need to do, is strip out some of the wiring that i dont need (took the lower dash off today and there's loads of wires everywhere, even some with bare plugs)

Will have to study the workshop manual... also need to find what fuse is for what, as the fuse box is all written in Japanese

So tomorrow, i think ill drill the holes for the roll cage, and get it all bolted down.... Im also picking up an Apexi RSM this weekend (to de-limit the car as well as give me some basic stats)

Really need to find out what wires i can remove, and what boxes i can remove (dont know what the hell the box is under the drivers seat)

Kinda worried about taking out some wiring as i know ill end up taking something off the car needs

 

Sorry everyone that was watching this thread, I'm still alive and kicking, but have not had much time lately to be doing any work in the impreza....

I've had the odd hour here and there, but didn't get much work done (just stripped some more parts off the car, bits off the dash) and now im in the process of chipping off all the sound deadening on the car (i got one of the passenger footwell's nearly done, and bloody hell, i didn't realise how heavy this stuff is!

I now have some nice holls i now have to find grommets for to fill in now (anyone got any clue's where i could get these from - Halfords one's are a bit too small for some of the holes)

 

silly colour? absolutely like your rims. First I read you were searching for a track vehicle, bought a wrx and I started with getting curious about the car^^
Removing the odd sound deadening -> use dry ice (frozen carbondioxyde) drop it on the sound deadening and remove it quicker it came on the car Avoid heating that stuff
After a friend of mine crashed my wrx wagon I'm looking for an sti v.3 or 4, if I get one, it's the same procedure

Thanks for the comments... I too have seen people remove the sound deadening with dry ice, but am not sure where i can get that round here... although its coming off quite easy with a flat head screw driver and a hammer at the moment.

 

Just spent a little more time today on the car (after fitting some new fluorescent lights in the garage so i can see better)

Today I just carried on with removing the sound deadening from the passenger side of the car:

Can see ive got most of the passenger side removed now, was just moving the front part of the roll cage to get the bit under there.


Drivers side still to do (although i have started just on the gear turret)


Roll cage now completely fitted in the back and door cards removed. Sound deadning from rear needs to be removed


I now have to look at what wiring i can remove from the rear of the car, ill have to trace the wires for the rear speakers and front speakers (as i need to remove these)

Think ill also remove the rear washer bottle and wiring for this, as well as removing the rear wiper (anyone know where to get a grommet to fill in the hole once its been removed?)

Just need to get myself some UPVC cleaner to get rid of all the excess black stuff from the sound deadening (as advised by someone on another thread)

Anyone have a guide on what wiring harnesses can be removed safely? There's a box under the drivers and passenger side which I'm not sure what they are (think the one under the passenger seat is for the airbag? and maybe ABS under drivers seat?)

Need to remove the ABS module from the car too, I've read the guide a few times now, just gotta try it out now:

with ure abs problem i took mine to a garge and asked them to remove it and this is what they have done and had no problems with the brakes

 

Thanks scoobwrx94import, out of intrest where did you get the parts from? While reading the other threads, is it true they use metric instead imperial fittings.

Take it i will nee pipe bending and flaring tools too?

I think i would quite fancy moving the two pipes front pipes further back towards the bulkhead with the rear pipes

 

to be honest mate nae idea about metric and imperial i no he had this we box with some sort of tool in it for doin brakes pipes didnt pay much attention i dont mind about the lower t piece would be better closer like but all is good did u get my pm about that price of bit u had left mate and wen u hopin to get more that vinyl
