Good post too, cars looking great and a little more complete compared to the first pictures you put up of the interior and dashboard etc when you first got hold of it.

What sort of times were you running on the 1/4 mile??

Cheers,
Grant

I have driven a 3 door but it was a long time ago, one of my worries is that the 3 door looks great but mine does have a lot of power now and it's quite a handful so it'd feel like a step backwards.

Many people on Passionford claim that the Sapphire drives much nicer than the 3 door and the Sapphire is the nicest of the Cosworths to drive but I can't comment because it's been so long since I last drove one,
I've not driven an Integrale but I'd like to try one - I toyed with the idea of an E30 M3 about 7 or 8 years ago when they were still down at 5/6k mark for a decent one but although it was better built, the sharper steering and brakes and the torquier performance of my Sierra meant I didn't trade.
Should have bought a cheap one as a daily driver though instead of my 328 and brought it up to scratch.

I've driven a couple of 3 doors but they don't feel as "planted" and seem to "corkscrew" more when you're going quick, esp. on bumpy roads. I prefer the inconspicuous looks of the Sapphire in comparison now ( done the XR4i thing a few years back! ) and the 4-doors come in handy for my little chaps to get in and out.

What time you get at the Pod? Managed a 13.1 in mine ( need more practise and a better rear set-up to get into 12s )

My car has come on a long way but it's taken quite a while and few pounds to get it there I only managed 1 run due to stoppages and on my first attempt I did a 13.5 at 108.8 mph I was far too slow off the line though and my 60ft was 2.4 seconds

The Integrale was a fantastic to drive, the problem was that it depreciated really badly and cost a fortune to keep on the road An M3 would have been the smarter choice back then I've never driven an E30 BMW though but they do look like they handle well.

A mate had a 440bhp 2wd Sapphire, an absolute animal. It would spin it's wheels through first and second, then would chirp the tyres into third - in the dry. We once saw 180 on the speedo in it. Mad bit of kit. I once had to drive it to and from a track day for him - Trax 98 after he lost his licience. He sold it about 5 years ago for £5.5K - it had cost him over £40k to get to that level -brakes, wheels, suspension, engine, mint bodywork etc.

Also, I had a 4x4 cossie powered Opel Manta. Running about 330bhp - great fun at the traffic lights!

Find a good one and you're laughing.

Although to be fair, 180 on the clock is only about a true 160-165ish I would say depending on what wheel/tyre combo he had

Factory clocks go up to 170

A Sapphire with about 500-520bhp will do about 180 with enough space.
Rod Tarry's had substantially more than that to break 200

Just swoped my E46 330d for this 2wd cosworth full service history covered only 85k in its life, harvey gibs engine only done 5k miles tad sort of 400bhp,lovely brembo brakes interior is mint
All i can say is it gives me a massive grin every time i get in it,yeah the interior is ****e compared to the beemer, the handling is scarey, but standard bushes, gearbox mount, engine mounts, probably dont help, so these are going to be addressed, also some other plus points are insurance they can be put on classic policys now this has cost me £330 fully comp protected no claims, mods declared and unlimted mileage, you cant beat that!also find a good one and look after it it wont lose value like other cars!
Some people get in a 2wd cossie floor it, the back end gos everyware it scares the **** out of them so they go back to 4x4
This is the thing i love!i drove a evo 6 rally car for a day, found it amazingly easy to drive fast but didnt have the fun factor a 2wd cossie has
Anyway heres some pics

I know a little bit about these cars so if you ever need any help feel free to do a FAO me and I will help where I can.

In the meantime, this will likely make good reading...

Still the best and most exciting car ive ever owned. Nearly cried when i drove my scoob after selling mine... my scoob was boring, slow and uninvolving....

Its cost me over £40k to get it near the excitement of my saff. Still doesnt pull at my heart strings the way a cossie does though.

My old 4x4 saff cossie.. bought this when i was 19. Had her for 18 months. Absolutely loved it.

343bhp
0-60 4.2 sec
0-100 10.9 sec
Standing Qtr in 12.53@ 110mph

Old engine bay shot, did lots of mods after this.

Nice one AL - plenty of bits you can upgrade to help the handling as well.

Like you say, they are a lot of fun
