I used to have my phone in my back pocket and regularly phoned people with my ****. On many occasions my friends have been treated to a tirade of abuse and expletives that I deliver to other road users. Suffice to say they were not too impressed and even suggested that I have some tourettes

I find a shake of the head with an exasperated look makes people feel much smaller than shouting abuse.
If you shout abuse they shout it back. If you give them the look "What are you doing" they may shout at you but be honest shouting at someone in a car is a bit of a waste of time and they look stupid.

Haven't bothered shouting or even looking for years. It is so much more cathartic. I accept there are people out there that genuinely struggle with life and associated tasks like driving.

Not so much a shout but my uncle was cut up by a lass, so naturally he shouts any of the above. Now her response is pure genius, she simply waggled her little pinky at him....GENIUS.
My only comeback would have been to make a big O with both hands but thats hardly safe lol.
