Seems to be the same to me
Due to its size SN has always taken a few seconds longer to load than some other forums
Think the word people are looking for is patience

Also some of the comments seem a little harsh considering the amount of people that seemed unhappy with how SN was...I’m sure the move was necessary to implement some of the other changes that everyone wants....one of which is the search function - you can't have your cake and eat it

Think it comes back down to patience - remember good things come to those that wait

Maybe he meant patients, implying that Sccobynet is now a hospital case

You're just worried that your car won't be the featured car on the front page any more

Sheez... are you serious... Is this the way most of you feel about your bretheren across the way. I think I may have joined the wrong forum over here. It is my love of the impreza that brought me here in the first place... and I dont feel the America bashing is necessary... I suspect that there are many more Americans on this forum than me.... who like me... would love to give our mates a hand at anything if we can help. DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE!

Don't worry, not everyone thinks like that. I'm across the pond working next week and I enjoy the trips, especially the way you guys look after people in the armed forces

Seeing as our personal data has been moved to the other side of the Atlantics, can you tell us if Internet Brands "Safe Harbor" registered?

My concerns exactly. That can now do anything they want with your personal data. Not covered by the data protecton act anymore

the US has legislation to protect us, like the DPA, which is why I asked the "Safe Harbor" question.....

let's see.... just interested (I was surprised it just happened tbh, rather than getting advance warning it was going to happen)

Who gives a **** where they are stored? What data have people got on their profiles they are worried about? Its the internet. Don't put anything on that you would care about anyone seeing unless its a secure site.

I changed my forum about 4 months ago from the same host SN was on to Hostgator, based in Texas.

The forum did run slow for the first 2-3 days, but as said above, they tweak/tune so the speed is increased, and yes, there is also a monetary benefit as well, it works out (for me) to be around half the cost of the UK host, but with much better benefits.

Give it time guys, it will be better.

tbh... when you register on a US forum, you do so knowingly (I usually do anyway) ... its the change from UK to US that should be made more transparent - some people might not want their personal data to be transferred overseas.

I'm fine with the move, as long as my personal data is protected appropriately.

I will leave drumming up support for our American brothers and sisters in the capable hands of Peter Griffin!

Shame really, I would have hoped that in times like these that UK firms and UK owned websites would be giving business to UK not US companies. After all, I suspect most of the funding for the site comes from UK based companies, as will the readers - seems a little ironic to move it elsewhere given the negative performance impact!

Is this also why our subscription emails arrive at 8am rather than at midnight?

Now means it's far more difficult to get first dibs on anything in the for sale section
