'kin 'ell guys, I did not see it but if they say a car is better than a Scoob then......whatever!
I enjoy driving mine, there are slower and faster cars. Who gives a flying f$$k!
Dont let it worry you!

Everyone seems to be going mental including myself over this. Whos the better driver Tiff or Penny? Cos Tiff choose the sti on top gear a while ago.I know it was an import and it had 280bhp but when the sti uk has a ppp it will push it to 300+ then all you evo boys can say bye bye. Like it or not. Then the real tests can begin.

I know this isn't going to go down well, but here goes.
The Evo might be better and faster and better brakes.
She was talking about a more expensive car, by a large amount.
BTW ,I don't give a toss what a load of nerds think who have never even "Driven" a fast car before.
She might be right, get over it.
I'm still looking at importing a STI because:-
a) its much cheaper to buy
b) its better on juice
c) lower insurance
d) more miles between services
e) looks better( apart from the gold wheel)
f) it cost less to service.
g) it's more refined
h) it's easy to live with
Regards the crack

I've owned both and from reading yer posts, it reads as though a LOT of you are justifying why you run a Scoob and not the Evo your hearts desire.
Petrol
Insurance
Buying cost
Depreciation
Hell boys, Its a real world out there...yer a long time dead!!!

Driven,what a disgrace!
They did'nt mention any tech specs on the scoob and could have tested on the road too. Those play station w*****s were a waste of space. What a s**t programe. As the scoob will sell better they had to slate it to help mitsi sales.

Some dumb comments;
"Evo brakes sooo much better"
-Really? Listen bint they have Brembo's not possible.
"Evo handles so much better"
- Did she even look at cornering speed? The Scooby closed on the saxo through the twists alot more!

Wouldn't buy an Evo if you paid me, paying that much cash every 4,500 miles would break my heart. Might as well buy a TVR and hand over a grand+ per service to fix all the faults.

LOL....ok so for it to be a "real test" the Scooby has to be 300+. So in otherwords it is only faster than the EVO if it has significantly more power? What kind of argument is that?
As for the Scooby closing in on the Saxo on the corners...ah!!! So when it suits the Scooby the footage is gospel, but when dissing the EVO it's a fix? So which is it?

When I drove a TME early last year it was an awesome bit of kit, I can imagine the VII is even more focused however . . .
EVO has a SAT NAV option, helps when tracking down service stations !!! ( 170 miles per tank is about the going rate )
EVO's depreciate like a steel girder in flight ! ! !
a very sedate happy MY01 WRX owner

Buy a ugly gtir, spend some to get a genuine 400bhp, Nismo gearbox, big brakes, and whiteline kit, and be faster than both for about half their price.

Not really bothered about the result.
I own (and love) a scoob at the moment...
...but next time maybe I'll get an Evo 7, maybe an Sti, maybe neither.
Regardless of which car "won" I personally think that the programme was $hit.
I rushed home, hoping to see a good review of these cars, and was sorely disappointed.
I'd say exactly the same if the Sti had won.
Two very good cars both let down by crap TV.

God you Scooby Chappies are sad! The EVO VII is not expensive to run for a car with 280 + bhp. As metioned before, performance costs, that's why Sccobis are cheap - no power. Plus the argument on servicing is unjustified, the Japan service interval is 6,000 miles. 4,500 was introduced by CCC to earn some extra cash. ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
However, I do agree the petrol tank is a pathetic joke for long commutes. You are always looking for SUL!
Trade the STi for a VTR, or maybe a Civic Type R or ZS180?

driven or drivel ! LOL![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
what sort of test will these mupets think up next?
when testing two of the best cross country blasters availiable you would think they would have to similialry matched drivers or test them back to back, on a track or a nice bit of twistty road, thats what ennthusiasts would probably want to see IMHO?
Not down a dodgey strecht of airfield followed by a friggin **** track with a few fluffy feckin rabbits chucked in to boot!
what were they thinkin of? im no rally driver but i wish they would shut the **** up about penny being a rally driver, she looked very nervy to me, like on that episode where she jumped that huump back bridge in the focus rally car, on the in car shot she shat herself.
how can you tell if the brakes are any good of 1st and 2nd gear blat then braking on cold brakes? what if the pads are harder in the scoob?
i think they are both great cars but what pi55es me off is they do a **** test, bunnys and all then get so much feed back from it? is it poss? i think not!![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
did i hear her right? "you have to really push this car (scoob) or it understeers all over?"
**** me i always thought pushing to hard into a corner made it understeer?
Yet when jony herbert drove the sti it looked so smoth and fluent on the track. these car programs should just get back too basics and test cars for what area tey are designed for, not chasing a friggin Saxo round a field dodging bunnys!![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
saying that i do like the idea of a Evo, just not good for my annual mileage!![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
rant off now, drivel, muppets!

And i always have a good gawp if a evo goes by.![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
i cant see the rivalry myself, i can aprreciate all performance cars. and theres lots of em![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Aw come on everyone. Lets not forget that Driven is a family television programe about cars, set to entertain the trolls. 90% of which will never even sit in an Evo or Subaru.
They have to make it entertaining, otherwise no-one will make any money, the producer will get the sack and Penny will have to go back to flogging shampoo.
If they droned on about geeky things like brake pad temperature differences and why you maybe shouldn't tweak the handbrake due to god knows why, then no-one would watch. Including me.
There has to be a winner. In this case the Evo. Chosen by EVERYONE in the test. Including Penny, who could out-drive most of us on here by a long shot.
In any case, I'm only annoyed because I missed Kylie.
PS My vote goes to the Evo. From an Impreza owner 3 times over.
