Never trusted Driven since it rated a Citroen Paxo and VW Poo-po (Lupo) ahead of a Puma.

Scoobs for ever. Just listen to that exhaust note!

What are they saying on the Lancer board I wonder, "Shame that, the Scoob was so much better. Driven must be paid for by Mitsubishi."

Maybee not then

Loadsa Scooby owners work in IT, its where the Dosh is,
it lets us drive Scoobies. We aren't all Nerds - sorry to
disillusion you.

Evo vs. Scoob - Each to their own, its all subjective.
Who cares what Journos think, take it/them for a spin
yourself......then buy the one you like/can afford & enjoy it!

Life's too short to winge about what *other* people think.

My money would be on the P1

**** it! Am I likely to cancel my order for my type UK and spend another 5-6k on an evo vii? nope!!
Might I spend that making the STI into a fire breathing beast that is still cheaper to run? Maybe.

Andy, (not doubting the evo is a great car but the STI is for me)

This is what they are saying on the lancer board!

For those who missed it, lts see if I remember.
Take 6 punters and let them play in a 7 and an STi

Q1 Which looks better? Answer - most say the STi is crap and the Evop is OK

Q2 Which do you want? All punters run to the EVO

But no, what do punters know. Better get "professionals" to see which is best And the test is take 1 Saxo, give it a 5 second start around a mixed route of road, dirt and track. First chaser is the STi The tester gets to the first corner, hits the brakes and with panic in her voice comments on the brakes being only just OK and the UNDERSTEER. Continues on talking about understeer all the time until finally they catch the Saxo. Final comment is how hard it is to drive and that from an ex British Female Rally Champ.

Next up is the Evo. Immediately the comment is that is is faster. Hits the brakes and says with glee how good they are. Before completing the first set of bends she is in love with the car and she easily catches the Saxo. Final conclusions is..........the evo is MUCH BETTER!

BTW, I don't think this is a biassed account. It really did happen

Dont you just love tv and the sponsorship money lol!!

Agree, what utter cr@p that comparison test was. WHY didn't they put Plato in the STI, he is a better driver. Its obvious he's going to make some ground. I bet I couldn't catch him in a Maclaren F1. Those geeky people rating the cars WHO WERE THEY ?? Most said they had never driven a performance car ! By the way, don't forget the Evo needs an oil change every 4K. Impractical in the everyday world. My vote goes to the Scoob.

Not all mistu favoured, they showed and drove prodrive sti but priced the standard one. If they were selling it they would have got done for misleading information, and on that count they also said evo was 0-60 in 5.3? mags have it as officially 4.5 - no wonder it felt faster.

As for the body roll, what hope is there for the WRX!!!
(should have sneaked the euro PPP onto sti and kept shtume)

I've posted a comment in the LTR Forum basically saying that the choice between the two cars is down to PERSONAL TASTE and personal taste alone. We know there's not a lot between the Scoob and EVO so lets just enjoy ourselves out there on the track.

Dave,

Can we send you to the middle east? Sensible comments are fewer there than on here!

Steve

PS That EVO of yours will look wicked in my wedding photos next to the Scoob!

Why not put the two side by side instead of chasing a silly saxo?

Possibly because they might not have got the result they wanted?

5 times WRC winner says it all....

but let's just gloss over that.....

Waited a whole week for this and agree with much that has been said, but to add just a few other points.

1. She did say at the end that the Scoob was also excellent, almost reluctantly I felt.

2. When she was driving the Scoob did you notice how she said I am about to overtake the Saxo and the camera showed her suddenly hit the accelerator from just behind the Saxo at an even pace, obviously staged for TV

3. Maybe on a track like this the EVO does leave you with the overall feeling that it is the better car. Try to get up every day and drive to work, it MAY leave you feeling different at the end of the week.

I am going to buy an STI7 now that my Scoob is sold but I am going to test drive the EVO at the weekend just to make sure I am doing the right thing. Anyway we have two AWESOME cars here and there never will be a clear cut winner, hey life would be boring if there was no DARKSIDE.

The woman couldnt handle the sti. We all know the sti is more driver orientated than the evo.At the end of the day it personal preferrence. The Sti costs less, is underpowered (Untill ppp)is more comfortable than the evo, in my opinion looks better. Ok the evo is slightly faster and more responsive but its probably hell on the insurance, nasty fuel bills, (Smaller fuel tank)service intervals are very close and expensive whereas subaru has recently extended their service checks and lowered the price so less visits to the garage.

Conclusion.
In conclusion the sti is an all round better package. It is more intimidating, easier to run, and doesnt look as plasticy inside as the evo. With the extra money you could beef it up, power wise, get a decent in car ice system, keep it for the insurance or fuel bills or just save it.

The funniest bit of the show was that kn0b going deep and meaningful about the word Evolution.

How the Evo VII had evolved from a grandads car into quasi-rally car...

...duh I thought it evolved from the Evo VI personally .

ROFL - when I watched the programme I knew it would be kicking off here.

Am I the only one here that doesn't give a rats buttock what Driven or the car mags think?

I drove a Prodrive prepared derestricted STi7 on the same tarmac rally course at Prodrive Warwick two weeks ago, and it was a blast.

I test drove a standard STi7 on the road and liked it.

We have two Prodrive STi7's on order.

I've never driven an EVO 7 and don't want to - I don't like the look of it, end of story.

Am I disappointed after Driven? - not at all, I always do what I want to do, not act on what I hear or read, and that isn't going to change!

There you go ... personal taste.

Yeh there are people who'll voice their opinions (taunt!) louder than anyone else. I'm buying one of the two shortly but at least I'll not be putting the other down.

The clearest thing that comes out of the test is what a bunch of bad losers some Scooby drivers are here.

Both good cars, end of story. 'Cept the Evo's a bit better.

Do you still believe the Earth is Flat?
