Talking

Just came across this thread and thought I'd link it to this one:-

The Lama is quite easy to control and helps you get the hang on the movements on the sticks, etc. If you like a bit of bling then you'll love this.

Thanks Phill

PS Pictures to follow.

I've got one of these.

Just a beginners thing but it gives a good basic understanding of how to fly a helicopter.

..........and spares are cheap and easy to come by!

I got it's bigger brother the Blade 400. It cost me £270 and I've spent at least the same again on spare parts, etc. I've also spent probably 10h repairing it for every hour flying it....in fact, probably worse!! However, I've now got to the stage where I've had it up high and flying it about and a decent distance away from me and it is sooooooooooooooo much fun

Have you managed to hover it inverted yet SSup, like the bloke I was watching at the British R/C Nationals once?

The contra-rotating blades, and hence lack of tail rotor, makes this helicopter pretty stable.

If it's trimmed properly, letting go of the controls brings it virtually to a hover allowing you time to gather your senses without stacking it in to the deck....or some other equally damaging obstacle.

Also if your moving in any direction, if you take your fingers off the sticks the heli will eventually stop if trimmed properly. Don't get me wrong the contra rotating rotor helicopters are great fun for learning but a single rotor like the Walkera 4#3 or the 4G3 is hard to fly. You need to be beyond thinking about what your doing with your fingers before buying one really. Unless your loaded!!

I love my 4G3 and Dragonfly 36, cheap and cheerful. Easy to get spares and fix them....

Take a look AC-RC Hobby
