I'm still quite new to the scooby world. Am I right in thinking the catalunyas are to the impreza what the escort cosworth monte was to the cosworth. What was special to the catalunyas.
there must be more cats around i know there is one not far from me but dont know what number it is
Well, I have been checking ebay, and they keep coming up - must be the 'recession' or some crap! Have updated numbers, most have looked pretty mint as well.
All, I have number 82 P555***. It lives in a garage near Solihull and comes out to play when the weather is nice. I bought it from Carstins about 11 years ago. It has modded brakes hifi and wheels, otherwise it is original. I keep it taxed and insured all year as it is brilliant in the snow It's still pretty minty.

Reason: typo
why over the top
i actually didn,t say there was anything left of anything!!, took emergency services 5 hrs to cut him from car and very nearly amputated his leg on the scene, this happened in langstone newport , gwent, about 7 ish years back if anyone on here local to newport remembers it.it was a very serious accident!!
12 months in hospital and then 3 years of intense therapy to walk again after numerous operations on his hips, legs !! not to mention both arms broke and his pelvis!!
he can walk now but with a major limp as his one leg is shorter than the other.
130 mph not 30, and yes indeed speed kills!!
Just goes to show how much false confidence the Impreza turbo can give you. 130mph is still 130mph in anyone's book. I realise the driver has had a rough ride with rehabilitation and I'm sure he has sleepless nights about the accident, but I hope his was convicted of dangerous driving or similar. There aren't many motorways with side turnings on for a car to pull out off, so I can only assume that this took place or an A or B road?
Shocking disregard for his own and other peoples safety.
I'm not saying that I drive everywhere at 30mph in my WRX, but I don't think I've had it over 90mph in the 5 months of ownership. 30-70mph is where the real fun is anyway.

I'm going for a second look on Tuesday so will have a more detailed inspection then. All looks good atm, mostly unmolested apart from some mesh on the scoop and vents, a dv and a cone filter, all of which will be removed/replaced.
According to an online resource "howmanyleft" there are 62 cars registered and taxed on our roads as Catalunyas and 39 sorned.
I have no reason to believe that this is an inaccurate figure but bear in mind sometimes imports are registered poorly, we have seen a few import cars registered as 22Bs for sale on eBay.

Yeah but Cats were official UK cars not imports. Basically if it's a UK car with a black mica psint code on the VIN plate it's a Cat as the only black UK classics were Cats.
Hey guys, new to the forum. not sure how relevent this thread is anymore but Im the proud new owner of Catalunya #102 so thats another number to add to the list of cats still alive.
I've just purchased number 137.... and loving it! Its completely standard bar a 3" exhaust and i will only be doing very subtle things that are in-keeping and all standard bits kept. It will continue to be very well looked after and highly polished with me

Alex.
Nice to see one being kept original, I've seen several for sale on ebay over the years, usually with chavvy angel eye lights and most things changed (wheels/spoiler in particular). Crazy that the Catalunya, Terzo and RB5 numbers combined total less than the run of P1's yet sell for peanuts.
Subaru could have done so much better with their late 90's special additions instead of just tarting up uk2000's. Using an STI as a base and adding some wrc influences would have worked a lot better IMO
I own number 183....there is a group on facebook called club catalunya you should all join we have about 13 people on there all own cats and have abit of a list going on
I had one as my first scooby but plaque was missing and didnt know enough about them at the time to chase it up but was dismantled by owner after me :-(
