Linux, FreeBSD, SQL, PHP, HTML and anything else that gets thrown at me are my thing

Never did much java except on the odd course at uni, was the last year at uni of notts to learn a proper language (C++)

Ive done C for 2 years love it compared to Java, How do i dual boot Win 2k and Linux, red hat 7.2?? without losing data on HD at mo??

For adjusting partitions I've had great success using partition magic, worked a treat last time I shrunk a win2k partition to make room for a FreeBSD test install.

Yeah ill down load that then in week or so, Its 40gb HD but next term im gonna try using the RAID feature, so 2 * 40gb HD's, can it still work then?

As long as you're talking hardware RAID it shouldn't care as hardware RAID presents a 'virtual' disk to the OS, which it then partitions normally. Drivers usually let the OS know the status of the RAID array and configure it with a management utility, but other than that they don't usually know about the underlying physical disks.

yeah i knew that but, i was told say you have 600mb file 300--> hd00 other 300 -->hd 01

So that'd mine 1/2 windows on 1, 1/2 on other n same with the linux.

That surly wouldnt work?

I'm paid to write (broken) software, this keeps testers in a job, who in turn keep me in a job by reporting back the problems.

The problems are fixed creating new problems.... and so on.

Thankfully I will never be a builder...
