A BMW technician is on his way down to my house now. Think they were panicking. Couldn't of apologized anymore on the phone.

I don't feel sorry for them. When I told him what happened he said I'll be down within the hour to get it sorted.

Once its been repaired i'll be off to the dealer I bought it from and ask that my contract is ended. No harm in trying.

I think thats really bad for a quality car.

My Skoda needed nothing except a gromit for the 5 years I had it and only went to the garage at service which was once every 2 years

Well they picked my car up at 12:30 and was at my house at 2pm. I suppose they earned some brownie points for that.

What made me angry was he topped the power steering back up and said he was going to drive it back. I said its going to leak out the bottom and he said thats ok I'll pull over and top it up.

No wonder why bikers come off their bikes with all that c*!p on the road.

Its probably been leased before to a small company who had a milage limit. Just before a service was due they may have knocked the milage back to avoid penalties. It happens to a lot of lease cars.

Paul,

If the car is leased from BMW (BMW Finance?) then complain to BMW Finance direct, not the dealer.

Your consumer rights are different under lease agreements because you are effectively hiring the vehicle from the finance company, rather than buying it from the dealer.

If I was leasing a vehicle with the number of faults/worn components you have described, I would be seeking a replacement car from the finance company.

And using a different dealer as well.

Not good, hopefully things will be sorted out. I never had any problems with my 3 series. Bought it brand new (tax free or it would never have happened) and it never missed a beat, only visited the dealers for a service. Flogged to my sister so i could get my scooby and she can't fault it.
If the mechanics just top up the power steering fluid when there's an obvious leak i think the garage might have soem issues!

Well I called BMW customer services who made a report to the finance company to see where I stand. Called them Wednesday and was told they normally get back to you within 3 days so should hopefully get a reply today. They seemed pretty concerned about the steering issue.

Fingers crossed eh..

Will be interesting to hear the outcome on this. At least they seem to be taking the situation seriously.

Well I've had a letter from BMW quality standards and have told me that the issues raised are under investigation and will respond accordingly and they are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Don't think i'll hand the car back but will ask for some sort of extended warranty and free servicing.
