i agree too pubs rip us off and give no incentive to drivers to stay sober ..

There was a TV prog some weeks ago about drink driving and they tested regular boozers after they had sunk a few. Astonishing results and I wish I could remember the exact details. Basically they could drink far more than you would guess and still be under the 35 limit. Almost an encouragement to take a chance. One of the girls who had half a dozen cocktails failed but a 6 pints of lager guy just passed and some fat old boozer who drank red wine by the vineyard hardly registered on the meter. Just adds to the confusion.

The only answer to the confusion that you tell us about then is to put a total no drinking law on driving. How did those who were not over the limit regardless of what they had been drinking seem as far as driving a car is concerned? If they can drink that much and not show over the limit, did they actually appear to be safe to drive-or was that not considered. They still had a lot of alcohol on board after all.

All in all, it seems like a very stupid programme to put on the TV anyway. What kind of encouragement is that to drivers?

I fully agree that publicans should be responsible enough to encourage drivers to avoid alcohol and supply non alcoholic drinks at cheap prices or even free.

I was very surprised after our Christmas do how so many got bladdered, then got a taxi home yet went out driving in the morning, one in fact carried on drinking when he got to where he was staying, must have been several times over the limit, and he relies on his licence. I had four pints of Carling last night, finished at ten so I would drive today but after caning down everything in sight I wouldnt entertain driving the following day.
