Sorry...I suppose recommending a Halfords store card was a bit below the belt

Let me suggest better.

My local bike shop which has been going for years does 0% finance, so maybe your local deal does too......see below.

Just scour the local papers, Ebay in the local vicinity, bang anything you like on here for a verdict.

I was going through the kids bikes as they have new ones, the eldests crap creap full "Suspension" bike has not done that much but it has a massive ammount of play in the front forks, you brake and it flexes back and forth which is probably as dangerous as it is horrible to ride, the younger ones bike with suspension has seized totally but it is a few year old and has spent a lot of time outside, so, its the tip for them, normally I keep them going and pass them on, I cant bear to throw an otherwise good bike away for the sake of a clean and a tyre but these are knackered just riding up and down our road, god knows how they would cope with any distance.

Its a 160 mile round trip so I'm looking at £30 of fuel in the Scooby.

No you dont "need" front suss.

I had an aggressor 3, but mine had front shocks. heavy bike, but a good strong bike too
Something tells me thats had a new front put on it

You dont "need" front suspension unless you are going off road a lot, as others have said, and if it is shot, eg floating around like ali against foreman, then it will be of no benefit and will slow you up on road. I am no physics expert but somebody will be along soon to tell you the scientific reason for it slowing you up.

At £20 though, as long as it looks half reasonable in the flesh, you cant go wrong.

For £20 its a yes, as long as it works!
Even the simplist thing wrong will cost you almost the same again to put right.

Better still, if your interest span is that short, just keep the thread going a few more days, and after that you will be over bikes anyway.

I go the gym three times a week mate, running, riding and rowing .. plus the weights, have done now for nearly a year, would consider myself above average fitness !

Can do a mile run in 8 minutes .. I'm quite happy with that.

Outdoor is more difficult though, and the cold air is hurting my throat .. thus the bike.

Oooooooh check you

I would think the air is still gonna be cold on a bike mate. Would give it a miss to be honest. Spend the £50 on some throat sweets and stick to the running outdoors.

I do a 7.41 mile, im happy with that too. But I still consider myself below a good level of fitness

£50 is good with all those extras.
I think you will find cycling is a bit easier on the joints than running or the gym and is good for losing those extra pounds.
Its pretty specific fitness though so take it easy at first and buy some proper shorts.
Will save you loads of pain
