Rayman, did u look at the link below the pics, there was one front shot. I had to get a new recirculating dump valve, the original one doesn't fit the Pace kit, though it would be easy enough to make an adapter plate fit the old one.

Muncher, it is a Blitz induction kit, my mechanic made the extension to the inlet, using some petrol tank hose and a bit of exhaustm, one advantage was that we lost the horrible resonator box!!! I have lost the "snorkel" for cooling the turbo, I think I need to look at getting some sort of heat sheild made for the top of the turbo.

The whole lot will look a lot better soon, when the OMP strut brace goes and gets replaced with a nice shiny Cusco one, and when I'm sad enough to take the intercooler pipework off and polish it!

Stuart,

Did you need to make the extension for the blitz because the pace would not fit with the original pipework (see pic and ignore the red circle I did for another thread ) ?

Muncher, yep, there's no way the Blitz will fit under the Pace piping without modification similar to mine. My car came back from Mike after being fitted with a bit of foam tape round the end of the inlet pipe! We fitted the Blitz properly later!

The FMIC combined with bigger injectors (I went from the standard 380's to 440's) gave 40 bhp. If you want (you will need them to take full advantage of the FMIC) a set of 440's mine will be available in the next couple of weeks as I'm moving up to 550's.

I ended up attempting to fit the intercooler but gave up after removing the water radiator and realising the amount of hassle it would be to move the air con radiator toward the engine bay.

I called Dave at Prices Risborugh 4 wheel drive and here is the result. I also got the cam belt done at the same time because from now on it will be a nightmare to get at the cam belt covers, let alone change it

Cheers

Giles

It's a TD05 on the WRX95, feels ever so slightly laggier than with the standard intercooler.

Strangely I now get a completely different lift off noise, kind of pulsed whoosh, not sure why yet.

Boost is held at 1 bar in 4th gear (standard ECU, PE T75 DP/exhaust system), I don't know what the pressure difference is pre/post intercooler.

I'm sure there's a good reason for it, why is the I/C inlet pipework 2" diameter and the outlet 3" ?

I guess it's because the Turbo outlet is 2" and the manifold inlet is 3"

Question

Mmmm That's not a very good reason

A 2" pipe flows only 44% of the flow of a 3" pipe. Or put it another way more than twice the velocity in the 2" pipe means twice the pressure drop.
The difference in density due to temperature will offset this to an extent but only by a few %.
Still wondering why
