hey green dreamer stop showing everyone yours, after looking at many of pics over the weekend yours was the one that i have decided to copy (if you dont mind), with the turbo behind the bumper, i have read your thread on start to finnish of your project, and was very inspired, is it running ok with the turbo there or did you end up putting a pump in for the oil, phil.

Yeah it's been ok so far but in all honesty the car is not run in or setup yet. Have had the car running and the oil doesn't pass the seals at idle so all seems good. To be honest it's no trouble to drop in an oil scavenge pump, they are widely used on dragsters and work well, so if it doesn't work as it should it's no problem.

sorry for the questions mr green but give us a clue as to where you put the gravity oil return pipe, was it back to the original pipe, underneath the original turbo position, thanks phil.

No it goes straight back into the sump in the original position, it's just a case of getting a pipe made up to fit from the oil drain on the trubo and then tap the sump to accept a male AN fitting and bob's your uncle. The oil drain location on the sump can be dropped slightly, you just need to weld up the original position, and importantly make sure that the new position is still above the oil line in the sump when full otherwise the oil will go up the return.

Nice set up GreenDream...i like it but how viable is it as a road car.

And is there any benefit in using your setup?

In terms of a road car, it's way more hassle than it needs to be, however the car was never destined for the road. However as a race car it's near perfect for my needs. There's only about two and a half feet og charge pipework meaning i can use a large turbo and keep lag to a minimum, and taking the turbo off takes less than 30mins at the track as the bumper is quick release and access is direct. Any advantage is a big advantage as they say in racing, but i wouldn't consider it for a road car to be honest.

It's not the air going through a hot bit of metal that heats it up, the air is travelling too fast for the effect to be more than a minor fraction of it I would guess. It's the fact you're compressing it that is kicking the temp up.

hi, just letting you know, i got the inlet manifold welded today for £50, they used a tig too, it looks great, the exhaust manifold is all welded together to take the turbo under the drivers light area, so its getting there.

ok, so ive started to put it all back together and now need advice on the oil breather pipes, i have an apexi pfc to go on and im going with a bigger turbo so wont need the old pipes that went on the thick flexi induction pipe, so what do i do with the pipe coming off the bottom rear of the intake manifold (under the original place for the throttle housing) and the metal pipe coming off the thing (sorry for not knowing) at the rear right of the inlet manifold with a plug going to it (i think it spins inside when engine is running) thanks phil.
