Rockingham Skid training...?
When I went, parking and sign-in was across the large yard from the race garages/usual briefing room. There is a high roofed open garage where everyone met up.
Driving licence was also required.

We are entering quite a busy period in March, we are testing at Silverstone on the 2nd (International Circuit), then we have to prepare for a a couple of Ginetta Media Days at Snetterton on 9th/10th and then on the 11th Tom is doing his Instructors Licence Assessment at Silverstone etc etc
If there is interest in organising a Scoobynet Passenger Ride Day it is probably better to plan it a bit more in advance and possibly in the Summer when we have more chance of good weather and time to get the numbers interested.
Once we know if we will be racing and in what championship I will look at some dates.
Jason,
Is there any requirement for helmets?
And are we ok with a couple of spectators coming in one separate car?
Presume driving license is required? ...since trackdays generally require that these days.

From: The place where indicators don't exist....
On the day that I attended for a previous skid day, there was no requirement to wear helmets.
With regards to spectators, I'm unsure how it works as I know we had to sign in.
I didn't get asked for my licence as I recall, but probably worth having it with you just in case.
I'm sure Jason will be along soon to clarify.
As an aside, anyone particularly handy with a camera...?

I'd also like to know what happens with spectators
i.e. is there seating where they can watch?
as the Mrs doesn't fancy "standing in the middle of a track watching cars go through puddles all afternoon"
And I may take my camera and do a few piccies for the afternoon bunch.

Do you have a Competition Licence? They are usually acceptable proof you are entitled to drive. That is how we used to sign Tom on at track days before he was old enough for a road licence.

Sorry guy's been very busy the last few days..!
Helmets not required and as far as I know there's no need to provide driving licence, but will double check this..
We're free to film/take pics etc at our leisure.
There's not really anywhere for spectators at all on the wet grip area and as it co-insides with a full track day and open pit lane the whole place will be busy. Hence my comments before about keeping them to an absolute min and if possible none at all..
Will confirm licence requirement as soon as I hear back from the rock.

The skid track has a grassed area where cars park up between runs. Spectators and drivers hang around here, watching & filming the others attempt their runs.
Bring very warm clothing and hot drinks! There are no toilets here either, but it is easy to drive back to the meeting point near the garages without getting mixed up with the track events.
Several cars had passengers on board and there was a bit of driver mixing between those who trusted each other.
I'm sure I had to show my licence when I signed my life away

That friend will be me!
Hi folks. Sorry - I haven't got a scoob, and haven't done car track days before. But I used to be handy on two wheels
I'd be dead keen to learn how to control my car on a skidpan. Especially get the confidence to control the back end stepping out round a corner. (Must find the ESP 'off' button
)
So let me know if anyone's dropped out of the morning session.
thanks folks

C, 'if' someone drops out then you will get first refusal..
David, the chief instructor has replied today and he's sure we don't need licences, but he's going to double check and let me know.
With regards to spectators, as Nick says there is nothing around the wet grip area and it's very open. If you do bring someone make sure they realise this. You'll get some idea if you look at the video about half way down this fastsaloons page:
the FastSaloons.com Group :: View topic - Saturday, 17th November 2007 - New date for Wet Grip day
This will also 'wet' (wet get it..? lol) your appetite if you've not seen it before..
I'm only able to get online once a day (eve) for the next few days, so if anyone has any further query's you can always call me on the number in the payment PM's I sent everyone..
PS anyone seen a weather forcast for saturday yet..?

Looking forward to it now but Google thinks it will take us over two and a half hours to get there and if we need to be there for 08:30am, that's one very early morning!
I hadn't realised it was quite that far away. Anyone fancy swapping our places for afternoon slots?

Funny how things come in threes. I haven't been to Rockingham in years, yet since booking to come on the skid training I now have to go to Rockingham tomorrow (Friday) as well and then we are now testing there next Thursday!
Nearly time, wohooo..!
You should have all had reminder PM's by now..
I'm still waiting for confirmation re driving licences. If I don't get confirmation tomorrow am I'll give them a call, so please check this thread tomorrow evening for final updates etc.
Otherwise, see you on the day, bring some warm clothing and don't forget to charge the camera battery..

Just found out, no need to take driving licence, we just sigh the usual indemnity saying we do hold a current licence..
BTW, for those who need to fine me, I have a WRB blob, as in my Plus Profile
<<<<<<<<
and I've been told I look like a taller George Cloony
, or was that George Formby..?
