ED, stupid question, why the wrap ? what happens if I dont wrap it ? etc etc
Hi,
Stainless steel cools a lot quicker than steel so the heat will leave the cat much quicker. CATs need to be at temperature to work efficiently so we reccomend wrapping them to keep the temp in
My Japspeed sports cat was fitted a year ago and passed the emissions test which was great.
However only a year later at the MOT the car has failed on emissions again.
Lambda is fine and garage has advised that the CAT is knackard.
After speaking to Japspeeed I'm told If you are running rich or over fueling you will kill the CAT which is not covered.
Please take note as no one made me aware of this expensive mistake.
This is not something to beware of Over fuelling can cause any cat to fail be it high flow or standard it can happen quicker in high flow cats due to their design,
As with most modifications you should have your fuelling/map checked to make the most of them and if you are running rich or lean have it addressed with a remap.
The downpipe on the 06/07 is longer than other newages so just a standalone downpipe wont fit but will fit if you buy a complete system.
ok so i know this is now old news and an old thread but here goes any way!
so i believe my car is the 07 hawkeye sti (late reg so its an 08) i have a japspeed 2 peice cat back system already fitted and was looking into the high flow sports cat, will this fit my car, as its with the system??

Hi
You would be able to bolt one into the system but we're haven't got a delivery date on the new age sports cats... we've only got the classics in at the moment.
