you both have cool cars...im prety used to speed costing and for some reason iv got the scooby bug...and instead of planning and working on an FIA title challenge next year (See profile) im plotting how to make the scooby faster,
problem is being fairly new to this there is a mile of information to sort through
and iv already made a few mistakes that have cost an arm and leg, so i appreciate you giving advise and to some extent telling us what your using... where i race its all secret squirrel stuff, threads like this are a godsend to me right now
respect to everyone that contributes,
Evryones oppinion is worth some concideration

No hard sell on mine.

Obviously a forged engine (it would be daft and short lived pushing this on std internals) but with std heads, std cams, std ecu, std maf, miltek exhaust, aps DR725 fmic, aps 70mm CAI and Lateral MD321V turbo. 545 bhp & 560 lb/ft on a flat 2 bar safe map with vpower + e85

Mine gets used as a daily driver (was down in london today in it visiting a client) but whenever needed it is on track either through a track day or as part of time attack this year and next. My wife also takes it out for a drive. It has great road manners.

so just what would you expect from good ported/polished heads with good valves and fairly agressive cams and do you use the variable valve timing???

No idea on what heads and cams would add. I would certainly hope for a substantial amount considering what it costs to do it.

Variable cam timing - absolutely... fantastic feature. I am way off std figures in my map.

My daily driver was running a standard position turbo five years ago and well over 500 bhp. 585 bhp 464 ft/lb on race fuel from memory.

I should add that similar figures were obtained at G-Force and Prosport, Stockport.

Martyn,
After looking at the power graph of that set-up, I think it would be quicker to get out and push the car lowdown.

Awesome, startling, what else can I say. It needed a gentle right foot in the rain. It was very tractable and pulled well from 1500rpm but with 3,500 rpm on the clock it just went. Overtaking was such a brutal and quick event that only the shortest of gaps was required. Top speed was clocked at 186 mph but it may have gone faster in still conditions.

Yes thats mine, it runs on Vpower only, it has produce 530bhp on the first dyno with a slipping clutch, then 545bhp with a new organic clutch. Current fiqures are 545bhp / 525 lbft. Been running it like this for 6 months now, used ever day 1000 miles a month no problems upto now.

Or by the way the car is a MY06 STI Hawkeye with full forged bottom end, front mount, injectors, ecutek remap

The car is hitting 2.0 bar boost at 3800 and drops back down to 1.9 bar. It is producing 300 lb/ft at 3000 rpm and 525 lb/ft by 4000 rpm.

The car is balistic when above 3000 rpm. It can be a bit laggy below 3000 rpm when your in the wrong gear. But you cant have everything.

I am still looking for a bit more if possible, looking to change the heads for cosworth big valve / ported and race cams.

Looking into how much extra this might give me??

Also thinking of adding nos when needed to help out below 4000 rpm!!!

Parmin ....are you from scotland as AndyF mapped your car?

The spec you have and power you have is of a very good interest to us.
I'm really surprise that you have 2bar at 3800 as my car only sees 1 bar at that rpm

Do you sprint/track it?

Who built it?

Regards

Peter

Figures sound really good!

I am confused to how the car can feel "laggy" below 3000rpm, if at 3000rpm you do in fact have 300lbft? 300lbft at 3000rpm is considered by some to be a goal to prove excellent lowdown spool.

Is this your graph that Andy posted on 22b?

*IF* it is......

Even though that is only a BHP graph, your calculated torque at 3000rpm is 210lbft and at 4000rpm is 433lbft.

Yes that was the original dyno when the clutch was slipping. I have attached full dyno graph below.

Power Run 3 - 13-09-08 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

As you can see from this graph I am only producing 200 lb/ft at 3000 rpm but by 4000 i am producing 450 lb/ft.

I will scan the new dyno run in this weekend and post the results.

Peter I am not from scotland I am from Durham.

It looks like you are still running OE ecu controlled boost with that spike - have you thought about swapping to an avcr or aftermarket ecu ?

Iam running the standard ecu, But I do have a Apexi AVCR boost controller which is brillant for switching between different power setups.

The spike or jump you see in the graph the rolling road operators tells me is where the clutch started to slip.

I would highly recommend this turbo I am very happy with it. My goal when I set out was to achieve 500/500 and still have a nice road going car. Which in my opinion and other scooby drivers who have drove her say I have achieved.

Quick Reply: forced performance, FP red turbo! any good/anyone got one?
