08 STi PPP and reflash ?
I've had PPP fitted to mine since early November and have been really happy with it! It really transforms the car! Yeah, its ultimately never going to be as good as a custom remap, but it keeps the car legal and will pass the emissions and noise tests without any hassle. Its also a low risk option of getting more power without risking damage to the engine or drivetrain.
To be honest, you probably don't really notice the extra 30PS more but the extra 70Nm of torque are really apparent!
Its never going to everyones cup of tea, but if you're looking for a safe and simple upgrade then you can't go wrong with PPP IMHO!
Hopefully Potiriadis' problems are an isolated incident (not heard of anyone else with any problems) and the backup he's getting from the dealer and Prodrive is probably worth the £1600 in itself! Also, if he's getting a custom map from Prodrive out of it, then that's a real bonus!
Also just to clarify, there isn't a Prodrive ECU, you keep you're existing ECU, its just re-programmed with the Prodrive map.

I have been told that is actualy a new ECU that is installed as Prodrive do not supply a copy for the ECU to be re-flashed as they do not want the dealer network to hold a copy of the map for their own use.... Now while this could be bu$$$hit my dealer have been pretty straight with me so far.
I agree that in most circumstances you do not feel the extra horses, but what you really notice, especialy in sprt sharp is that more of the power is available lower down the rev range.
I drove a 2008 corvette in america for a long weekend, with the PPP the scooby now has as much low down get up and go as that massive V8.

53 STi(350bhp). I think the outcome of this thread for me is inevitable.
just need to source the rest of me exhaust.

Got the Litchfield 355BHP upgrade - very pleased with it - good value for money. Also comes with warranty
IIRC, Iain said something about pot 4 giving up with over 400BHP.
I would like to have 450BHP ish safely, when people work out how to achieve that at sensible money.
Also got the AST suspension upgrades and a few other bits, which transform the feel/roadholding over the soft std set up.

It is great that the litchfield modifications come with a warranty. Does the warranty cover the whole engine, or just the litchfield parts. As a result of my car being in the shop I have had to read my warranty very carefully and it says that any non subaru modifications (say litchfield) would invalidate the warranty.
I really like the idea of the suspension upgrades though. When I took the new STi to the Ardeche Gorge in Summer it was not a patch on my bugeye STi. That was however before the PPP. If you get a chance to do the Ardeche and Verdon Gorges they are amazing. Like a tarmac special stage but over 80 miles long. Just go in winter though to avoid the tourists.

Quick update, Prodrive are apparently updating the map for the PPP based upon the fine tuning they ahve done for my car. If you have upgraded to the PPP or have a 330s I would recomend giving it a couple of weeks and then making polite enquiries at your local dealer.
I should have the car back tomorrow, fingers crossed.

My first exhaust was also faulty like yours - it looked like a comedy wig coming out of the back of it!
I'll forgive Subaru and Prodrive for both of these if I don't have any more problems!

Just heard, ECU will be fixed tomorrow, prodrive have fixed map and have sent it to Subaru UK fo installation onto new ECU. Subaru Uk are getting a number of ECU's done today for issue to dealerships. If you have a PPP, or a 330s it would be worth calling your dealer and getting it fixed now rather than wait for your service.
I'll take it for a spin tomorrow night and I'll report back.

Car is back and its a goodun. Really happy with the dealer service, and the car is back to full health. Suddenly can't help thinking I need some 18 inch wheels to ruin the ride though.
If you have just ordered the 08 PPP I would be insistent that your dealer check that the ECU is one of the new maps as they only ordered in a limited stock of ECU's for re-programming.
Dealer has done a full diagnostic on the engine and has assured me that all is well. Also if there had been any problems I am sure that Prodrive would have cried foul.
Trying to blag a decent excursion from the missus to stretch the car's legs.

Glad you've got it sorted, I'll speak to the dealer before to check the ECU.
I managed to find a set of 18" 5 spoke 330s alloys on e-bay for £240, need a bit of work on one of them but hope to get them sorted soon. They do say that to get the most out of the PPP 18s are recommended.
Thanks,
Paul.

Hi
Not been on for ages...
ABP Motor Sport - Specialist Tuning | Honda Civic | Citroen Saxo
In Crewe
I've just had the PPP fitted to my 08 STI and it's spot on. It gives it an extra 47 lbs/ft of torque some 600 rpm lower in the range (348lbs/ft @ 3400). It's gone from a car that didn't feel quick even though it was, to one that feels very quick. Also if it blows then Subaru will take care of it.
Thanks,
Paul.

It only took a week to get my kit, which was a surprise as I was expecting more of a delay due to orders and the re-supply of problem ECUs. I was told it came direct from Prodrive and it was the latest ECU, pity they didn't get my reg correct on the certificate.
I'm sure priority will be given to new paying customers - shame
I asked the dealer on the 17th (Sat) and had it fitted by the 27th (Tue) and it only took that long as I was working so try putting pressure on the dealer. Tell them that you know they are supplying new sales instead of replacing fault unit, poor service, unfit for purpose and tell them you what a refund if it's not sorted quickly, that should cause them problems. I did when my engine went and got a deal on the PPP, the dealers words were "it's cost me money to do this".
