911 Turbo 996 30-40k

BMW M5 E60 25-40K

M5 Is the best car, for £30k you can pick up a decent condition one, a 507bhp family car for that amount of money is awesome!

Would be my choice too. Creeping toward £30k as we speak

TX.

Edit - just under £30k now actually

B7 RS4 Is nice, but waay over-rated IMO. They are ALL underpowered, and I've never seen one hit quoted power on a neutral Dyno, excellent handling, but not enough grunt in a straight line, it's not quite "special" enough in comparison to some of the other beast available for that price range.

B5 RS4 Avant is something else though!

Greg if I were in your shoes and beleive me I've toyed with the idea it would be an Exige in the garage and a 205 GTI on the drive as a daily driver

The key in all of this will be in the test drives obviously, some great suggestions though!!

Evo 9/Sagaris/M5/R34 are topping the list so far.

Decided that the RS4 is off and I tried to get into an Exige and failed horribly, which is a shame as they are stunning machines.

I then started to think about the cost of maybe bringing the Scooby upto around the 450bhp mark, excluding the likes of uprated brakes/suspension etc what would you say a ball park figure for this would be without cutting corners, ie a reliable 450/450??

As I do still and always will love Imprezas it then got me thinking that maybe if I make some significant changes to my scoob and the result of the question above is viable then maybe I will stick with what I have got and just run some big power through it....

Which leads me onto my next question:

Would you rather spend a good few grand on your scooby and improve it vastly or chop it in and buy another motor priced within reason??

Cheers

Again 450 bhp is quite alot for a daily driver, twin plate clutch will give u a headake, unless there are no road trafics where u live... It's just my opinion, i had this issue ... I would go for 2 cars , classic type r with big power & some diesel daily car...

Problem solved in that I work on a 6 on and 4 off basis in my place of work, for my 6 on I use an old heap of turd called a Rover 25 2L TD and then during my 4 rest days I have my scooby so I already run two cars.....

Obviously if running around 450bhp in my model of scooby is brutal with regards to general comfort and ease of drive then I wouldn't be interested, end of the day I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice usability in the hunt for horsepower...
