All is well now i've got a new sniper rifle

I'm battling supermutants at the moment, after popping into rivet city, I now have a bead on the old man at some purity lab.

I tend to find the best way to deal with the mutants is an assault rifle under the chin, or the combat shotgun - which is awesome by the way!

Purity Lab is part of the main quest you have to speak to a scientist at Rivet City and she tells you more (love the idea that it's an aircraft carrier).

With the supermutants i use the hunting rifle to short their legs then let them get close and finish them off.
Combat shotgun is awesome it's my main weapon when going into buildings nothing like a Raider charging you and a single round to the head blows it off.

Have you met the Talon mercs?

 

I went looking for the family, and 3 mercs jumped me. Are these the ones you mean?

 

Yep ******* hard as they normally have body armour and armed with combat shotguns,in my case, i actually have a bounty on my hard from someone and they now randomly appear.
The armour they have is very good so i'm wearing that at the mo but always seem to get a good price when selling the stuff.

 

Yeah they were a bit tricky, however in my case one had an assault rifle and the other two had a hunting rifle and a laser pistol. So not much trouble once the guy with the assualt rifle was dispatched.

Same situation with me, I think its to do with the karma, I have been nice to everyone so far - so have been labelled a do gooder. There is a bounty on my head.

Looks like I may have to kill some children or beggars to lower my karma...

Dont know what I am wearing at the moment, still have the security persons helmet on from the vault.

 

You have to play the game through 3 times as there is an achievement on the 360 for reaching lvl8,14 and 20 with good,neutral and bad karma (bit of a gamescore ***** so i will play through 3 times )

i think the bounty is because you escaped Vault 101 i'm so good i think my character on the status screen has a halo and wings

Talon armour is worth wearing imo as it can take a beating

 

When I hit megaton last night, a settler came up to me and gave me a gift, so I get a bounty of 1000 on my head and mercs after me, but the bonus of being good means I get 3 crispy squirrel bits.......doesnt quite add up.

 

Not seen the mercenaries yet although I'm pretty sure they're after me, been all over the metro tunnels looking for the family and galaxy news radio and got my a$$ a minigun! Yeah baby! Just need some decent-ish armour and a better repair skill now!

 

I've finished it now (not saying how it ends though )having to play through again to get some of the achievements.

The Laser Gatling fecking rocks,the Talon mercs armour is quite good not as good as the later Power Armour/Enclave Armour though

tbh i used the Chinese Asssualt rifle and combat shotgun most of the time.

 

Anyone else found the Alien Blaster Pistol? Feckin awesome gun
Can be found north of the powerstation near Minefield.

 

I really want to play this but the PC version has major issues!! I am out of the vault and in Megaton but I keep getting crashes to desktop - the forums are full of solutions but none are working for me so far

Loving the game tho!

That's why i love this game and Oblivion you can play it anyway and explore anything your way.

 

So... I've now bought the game and am addicted (God damn' it )

I love the unscripted nature of some of the encounters you get. I had the Talon mercs spring a surprise for me right outside of the scrapyard and I was getting my **** handed to me. I was cowering behind a rock trying to get AP's back and heal myself when all hell broke loose.

I looked up and a patrol of fallen brotherhood turned up and blew the mercs away with gatling lasers!!!

I had 3 merc armours and a fallen brotherhood set by the end of the fight!! I just sat back and watched the fun.

 

lol I've only just crawlled out of 101!

 

Hmm you chaps are really selling me this game. Anyone get it cheaper than £27.99 for the PS3 before I splash the cash?
