Cheers for the comments guys.

There's no way this shell will see the road again. Even of they Cat C it, which I doubt, I'm going to scrap the shell.

To be fair I hope they do Cat C it instead of CAT B as that makes things a whole lot easier for me. No matter which way it goes though that shell will never see the road again. I'll make sure of that!!

I hope its a Cat C, you have spent a lot of money on it. Have you found anyone that would buy the car for you if they say its a Cat B?

It'd be a real shame if whilst its sat there some "scally" whipped out all the expensive stuff and maybe chucked in a buggered old block etc....

I guess the obvious question would be how much did you declare to the insurance company and what was it valued at? Is it still at yours?

For obvious reasons I dont want to go into specifics but All my parts have been declared and are insured on a like for like basis. I have reciepts for everything I've bought. It's scary what it all adds up to. I'm not expecting to get back what its cost me but by the same token the offer sure as hell wants to be substantially more than what a standard car is worth.

It's now a waiting game. Time will tell.

I would be wary about them taking your car away to their storage yard whilst it is being agreed. I had this years back, paid to get my car back and it came back with half my bits missing. I didn’t have a leg to stand on so I was told and got screwed! Was not happy!

my pal bought a ford escort rally thing been rolled that many times the roof was touchinh the seats when he bought it, his wife went up the wall. 10 years later he has a genuine ford escort rally car, ford came out to see his car and gave him the original spare gear box and motor they had for it when they rallied ford told him to insure it for 16g and 65g when done hes been all over the world in entering races, if you was to see that m8ys you wouldn't be leave what he did, will go see and try and get some pics of him. garage was full of winning cups from all over the world something about he didn't have to Evan come first due to it being a gen rally car he would win automatically.

Its a shame but then its your car do as you wish,
Trails How would you get ripped off, if the jobs done right and done by the pros should be no problem at all, that's why Subaru make genuine replacement panels.
But as he says the crusher will see it last.
Have you decided what your getting, is it going to be another Subaru or a fresh start with a Mitsubishi

Not sure if i understand totally........
If there is a danger of the ins co declaring cat b then can you not decide to cut them out of the deal all together and when you've saved some pennies up, buy a new shell and transfer everything across???

Yes you're right it is my car, my choice. Besides i've seen your workshop you havent got the equipment to do it right. I dont mean that in a disresepctful way but it's the truth.

To be honest though its more of a sentimental thing. I just don't want anyone else to own something that I worked so very hard on. I know thats daft but its the way I feel.

Totally understandable and your right in crushing the shell really. I suppose once you've been given a "quote" then you'll know the direction to go in.
But, and i think i speak for most people on here, we all hope you get the best deal so you can start another project thread and inspire us to do similar.

I didn't mean i would do it, as you say i haven't the equipment but know a man who has. Like you say you have made your choice just a shame.
Good luck with the new car

Personaly i would never put that car back on the road simple as that, wheather it can be repaired properly or not i would never want to see that shell rolling again if it was in MY decision.

whatever you do with this vehicle with regards to the insurance DO NOT LET THE VEHICLE OUT OF YOUR SIGHT until they agree to the cash in lieu (keeping the salvage) or trust me the car will be crushed/destroyed without your approval

seen this many times
