By all accounts the GT35 struggles for 600 unless you start adding funny fuels into the equation
It could well be the GT37R. I am not sure Daz.
Your correct in the bhp though. It does look as if I will need to take further measures for achieve 600. It will not be achieved with the new turbo.
I will wait until I have the car back and make a decision.
Olly has explained much to me and he has mentioned that the car will be very quick as a result of the work being carried out at the moment, and I don't doubt that for sure.

I will make a decision in a couple of weeks.

LOL, not teasing.
You guys have a lot more knowledge than I do.
When I collect the car I will ask Olly, then I can tell you.
I have misunderstood some bits and pieces and I don't want to make it appear that RCM have supplied me wrong info.
Any confusion within this thread is all down to me.

Not yet Hammer. RCM are aware of my track day at Brands on Feb 27th and the 30-130 on March 8th.
Olly said they will be on the case starting next Monday I believe.
Should be done in time

Hi Clive ,on my paper work i had of them it says i have the 3037 turbo which is the same as a gt30R.
I was speaking to Dave rowe last year when i went drag racing with him,he said that with this turbo and race fuel would make 600bhp .

Sy,i thought your car should see at least 700-750 bhp on race fuel?

Marty

They rekon GT4088 on 2.35 680ish, if i can sort the airflow then 2.4 bar may make it happen then add nos will take it to 750, im not getting the benefit of the fuel as running 8:1 CR and intake too restrictive to get the boost to make use of the low CR- any 600+ is a mighty engine thou - and tameing it- using it is another matter. My focus is now how to use it and drivetrain development, although im sure some more power will come in the next few months.

" taming" - "using it".....Good Points.

At RCM last Saturday Olly & I were talking about that.
A noteworthy remark he made was that from 550bhp ish in an Impreza you need to further adjust your reactions, timing etc to a new level, and pointing towards your limits.
I would imagine it's a right mare throwing them around cones on certain events! ...however I bet the inner foam of your crash helmet is indented with a wicked grin

I can only confirm what a difference it is moving up to this level, it took me a good couple of weeks to get to grips with mine when it was first completed. At this time of year when it's only driven occassionally it still shocks me at how quick it is. You really do have to be careful with these weapons and give them respect !

Your comments have been noted Hammer!

Marti has passed comment on the power in 4th & 5th in his beast.
Mine was no where near Marti's performance and I thought that was really quick in 4th & 5th.

Haven't read this thread for a good while and by god does it make an interesting read as there are the top guys from this club that is posting on it.

Sy whats is wrong with the inlet manifoldd that is causing the restriction.
I ask because i'm using the same manifold but is running a 70mm throttle body and a bigger plenum. If hope to make it less restrictive and hopefully gain response from the bigger TB.Chy is doing all the engine work and the turbo(GT3040) is remaining for the now.I'm going to run E85 and 1100cc later in the summer along with a change of ecu with 2 fuel maps!
What the next upgrade from the 3040?

Clive(SF).....what turbo are you going for for the target BHP?

Clive(MH)....any plans on improving your 1/4mile pb?

AFAIR....when i had my car and running 2bar in 6th....120 and flooring felt like the same acceleration as in 3rd!

Oh i can't wait to get my car back.

What A/R is your 30/40 mate ? Next upgrade would be a 35R I would have thought, that's what I'm running.

I wil be back down the pod on 21st (weather permitting), target is low 11's now I can lock my diff. Then once ambient temps are up later in the year I will hopefully make the high 10's and once I learn how to drive in a straight line

Hi Fai

Matt starts on my car this coming Monday. I spoke with Olly and he was not too sure what one Matt was going to opt for. The 30/37 (44mm wg) was mentioned.

Power will depend on what Turbo goes on. Will be around mid 500 ish.
When I get it back I'll let you know

What bhp you at Fai ?

I've ran a 11.08 in a fat boy newage and people said i would need approx 600 big ones to get near that time....but i didn't expect the turbo to flow that and if it did it would have been very maxed out.

Hi Peter - not sure what you mean by by you have a "Bigger Plenum", the existing mainfold I am using is the standard newage top half type (the ones that fit on top of the tumbler valves) - and it has no plenem to talk of really, and Im told its quite restrictive. Cossie do a high flowing replacement - thou its a bit ugly. see here.

RallySportDirect.com - Cosworth Subaru WRX/STi Intake Manifold

I guess when you go chasing big power your always moving on to the next bottle neck and the standard one is fine for most users.

I know a couple of people that have had great results with GT30s and then been disapointed with bigger turbos as the feel less torquey -

Sy
