Reducing offer price on a house....
#91
What if... if sellers strang buyers along in a similar fashion? Say you accept three offers on a house and then try and shaft the one nearest exchange each time (knowing you have 2 more in reserve)? Each buyer that tells you to F off at that hurdle will have lost a grand on surveys etc but might well do it on principle for such ****** selfish behaviour.
All this sort of behaviour and 'me first' thinking is doing is prompting more nanny state legislation as we cant all behave decently when left to our own greedy devices.
May you be the first victim of such reverse shafting as I'm sure you would well 'logically' put it down to normal free market economics - no matter how much it might screw your efforts, finances and life plans at the time. Not.

People with good financial planning skills didn't need to do anything; they got a mortgage they could afford, bought a house they liked rather than one they thought they could make money on and generally lived within their means. They kept their shiny morals and didn't lose their home.

I'm not going on about morals as I see many people are falling on their own swords for being greedy and expecting the housing market to make them rich for doing nothing.
Your replies have been very smug, from a point of view that you've made and got out at the right time. Well done.

Oh for Gods sake.
At least we managed to get to half way down page 3 before the ridiculous school yard insults started flying.
Can we just agree that the apparent majority disagree with Nat21s stance on this and quit hurling stupid comments back and forth?
All that's going to happen next is a pathetic tit for tat infracto-fest which benefits no one.
For the record, if anyone suddenly dropped the offer for my house on exchange they would be told to shove their offer up their ****, and to go and find some other sucker to pee off.
I too believe in karma.

Would just like to add to this, the vendor is a buy to let landlord with a few properties on the market, the house is unoccupied and has been for some time.
No chain either way.
No little old lady waiting to retire to Oz. etc etc.
