I agree they are considerably more than £250, we just got fed up of white goods lasting a few years, leaking and body rot. So we decided to pay that bit more and go for something reliable and long lasting. Will work out cheaper in the long run.

The fact that my £180 Whirlpool lasted 10 years says that it ain't necessarily so

Thanks for all the suggestions/comments but MrsREV has now picked a washing machine (a Hotpoint of all things) that was reduced from £375 to £240. Tell a woman she's saving money...

This is the one we ended up with

Hotpoint WMF540P | Coop Electrical Shop

MrsREV ordered it Thursday night, they delivered it at 7am this morning (er, thanks, I think)

I plumbed it in this morning and ran some loads through it. It's dead quiet, washing comes out really clean and very dry thanks to the 1400 spin. So happy so far, but I'll report back in 10 years to let you all know if it's still working.

Just what i've said to many of my customers!!!

For just over u can get your hands on a Bosch WAE24363. Good basic machine and difficult to beat at the price.

If you need any more advice (like the battery charger) give me a PM

We need a new one, got to go out today and buy one After hundreds of,"PLEASE DONT OVERLOAD THE MACHINE DARLING", she still did yesterday. And for one last time, after hearing the usual, groan/thump/bang and a crazy wola-wola-wola noise, THE DRUM DOOR FLEW OFF FLOODING THE KITCHEN, and blowing the trip switch on the fuse board in the garage. Christ why dont they fookin listen

we have needed a new one for months now its a 6 kg hoover jobbie and its lasted about 7 years, the appliance repair man took one look at it and said the drum is knackered, when its on full spin it sounds like a boeing 747 coming in to land.its been getting louder and louder and i have been waiting to see if it will die in a dramatic fashion before getting a new one ,but the final straw came for the wife yesterday when it stopped drawing the fabric softner into the machine so im off to comet this afternoon washing machine shopping she finds this exciting high spin speed this 7kg load that blah blah.the suns shining and the winds dropping i want to go fishing.
