Well propped up against a wall in the garage has whiteleine bushes in there so will maybe press them out as it wont be going back on .

Archie looking at your pics are you running both pumps at the same time or one at a time and using one as a spare switchable if one fails ???

Very nice project and an interesting read. Just a quick question. On your avcr Solinoid valve, what have you done with the vta port it looks like you've run a pipe to under the headlight. Any reason for this? Cheers,

Both will be able to running at the same time but will need to speak to Andy to see how he wants to set them up. It may be the case that only one pump will be needed at certain times i.e idle etc so will speak to Andy and John prior to configuring the wiring. But essentially both pumps running and teeing together into one line at the engine then splitting again to feed the fuel rails.

Luke no the pics are misleading the pipework was disconnected when the old engine and turbo came out and is just lying around in the bay from when it was disconnected from the turbo and external wastegate.

Well its been a good few months since I updated this. Progress has been pretty much non existant over the summer due to a combination of work, lack of enthusiasm and helping others. It became apparent that the car wasnt going to be finished in time to offer the car for selection for the TOTB team so to be honest I lost motivation and hence focus.

I have managed to get some progress made but at this point in time I still dont have much motivation or desire to finish it so its more been a case of some token gestures more than a full blown push to finish the build. I still have 2 expensive outlays required to complete the car which may prove a challenge to fund so decided to plod on with it until its either finished or I run out of money. If its the latter then rather than have a 3rd year not competing I will probably break the car.

I have completed the rear diff carrier and all it needs now is a couple of spacers to set the height correctly and then a lick of paint. It has worked out well and will save a fair amount of weight and allow a little height adjustment to the diff to assist with the drive shaft angles. The amount will ultimately be limited by the prop shaft to tunnel clearance.









I have managed to get all four fibreglass doors mounted and all the locks etc fitted. The rears were easy the fronts were a pain in the **** thanks Simon. When the fronts were moulded the various mounting holes were taped over so well that the positions could not be seen on the fibreglass door which meant a world of pain. I had to make up card templates from the original doors for each hinge and all the door locks and handles etc which proved to be very time consuming to say the least, but all done and pretty pleased with how they turned out. Just need to get the fronts off and dress the edges a bit and prep them for paint. I still need to source the front perspex windows and fit them but that wont be difficult. I was amazed at the weight saving here












I have drilled out the seat mount supports in preperation for welding in fixed tubular seat mounts, so still got that to organise.



The lightweight dash is also cut and mounted so just need to get it away to get flocked.





Engine bay is just about finished just a few fuel pipes to complete and everything there is mocked up.



Oil cooler is now mounted but pipewrok will need shortened and right angle fittings used instead of the straights it currently has. It is no where near as close to the wheel as the pictures suggest.







Just need to sort the duct from Frays to ensure all the air from the intake is forced over the oil cooler.

The next job is to take the engine back out as it will need some work done to it.

After that the main job is wiring which hopefully shouldnt be to painful as it will be done completely from scratch.

Lol the rear doors were from Si North's (sleeper Si) car and are very well finished the fronts are still in gel coat and are the exact opposite. Both will look ok once painted tho.

Arch- has the intake manifold got a wedge, or you just using a 45 hose to angle it into the pipework? I managed to get mine ok with just a 45' hose

I have also just had a plated rear diff fitted, and the car downgeared- think that's killed my hopes to use the car on the road inconspicuously lol

Keep going- you will kick yourself when the events start again!

Well its been a long time since any update on the car. Progress has been slow but progress never the less. The engine had to come back out as the adjustable exhaust pulleys had to be sent away to be modded. Thanks to Chris at CDF for his help with this.

That took a bit of time but was worth it in the end.

The car is mechanically finished bar some cosmetic additions and some panels need painted.

The pedal box is mounted and plumbed in along with the hydraulic handbrake.








The seat rails are welded in and the inside painted.





The switch panel is mocked up with a temporary switch panel. The main job left to do is wire the inside of the car. The engine loom is getting there.

EGT Probe fitted




Engine bay is getting there just some shiney bits to fit once the engine loom is fitted









The wiring for the lights and fans is complete in the engine bay. Tried to keep it short but hidden as much as possible.

Arch- that's looking lovely! Have a similar hole in my engine bay, with cold air feed from the front.

Looks very neat inside! Mine has gone a different route- did first rally in it the other day, so now its restricted and a lot slower lol.

Yours is looking awesome as ever!

Hi, I just read your whole thread. This car is really something. I like the Scottish flag on your cambelt cover. Can I ask you about the hydraulic handbrake? I really want that on my car, however I read that it does not work well with the center differential. I saw that the rally cars have a trick center differential that costs a bit more than I can afford ( and by a bit I mean a lot). Could you please share how you got around the problem with the locking of the center diff that appears to suddenly burst into bits?

I don't intend using the handbrake on track or in the same way the rally boys do. For me it is mainly going to be used to allow me to load up the transmission before launching off the line so the issues you mention wouldn't be a problem for me.
