I also used to be in to archery.
I started with a little 24lb recurve bow, and when i was around 14 my old man bought me a compound similar to the pic. I used to love it, and yes, Agree with previous poster, the only thing that took some getting used to was not taking the full weight of draw.
I then got into air rifles when I hit 16-17 and have had alsorts from springers to full on Daystate PCP's. But the drive to Rivington shooting club got a bit much and the only shooting I do nowadays is a little on my aunts farm.
My little cousins still get the recurve bow out each summer, they love it!

NS04, you forgot field
Wher about you based? NFAS big game rounds are fun and all singing recurves have their own class.
That bows only about 43# draw weight as I have shoulder probs, but only 50% let off.
A guy at the club has a guardian, and hes oly holding 9lb at fill draw, from a 62# peak.
Give it another 8 years and I can see compounds being allowed in the olympics and possibly a field demo in 2012

I shoot in Kent, Simon, I'm still a beginner; only been shooting for a year. Need a new bow too really, but the car has taken all my sodding money at the moment!
Unfortunately the outdoor evening shoots have just come to a close and soon it'll be indoors and frostbites on the weekend!
Great sport though! Came along at just the right time for me, too.

Shooting 3D's is great fun
mainly as you have to know the size of the target, and elks and moose are huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge!! Really throws your range finding off.
