Another twist:

BBC NEWS | England | Body of wife found at arson house

Police investigating a fire at the home of a millionaire businessman have confirmed one of two bodies found there is that of his wife.

A post-mortem examination has found Jillian Foster, 49, from Osbaston House in Maesbrook, Shropshire, died of a gunshot wound to the head.

The other body which was found is believed to be that of an adult man.

Although it always seemed likely, I'm still shocked that someone would kill their wife and especially their 15 year old daughter. What a waste of life.

Yes, my thoughts, either he was having a breakdown/episode or someone else shot them. However, it does point towards him - with the CCTV footage showing him with the murder weapon.

You would have to be in a very bad way to kill your wife and daughter - a tragedy however you look at it

I'm staggered that he went to a BBQ with friends and family where no-one thought he was acting strangely, and the photographs show hime looking quite normal and happy, yet a few hours later he was destroying everything that he loved

I would have thought they could sell the house, pay off the taxman, and still had enough to buy a comfortable family home (i.e. about £300k). Get a smaller car and send the daughter to the local comprehensive.

Not what he would want, but surely much better than the way its turned out.

So, so sad for the completely innocent daughter I hope I'm never anywhere near the place that he was in. RIP.

everyone's different, but how fcuked up have you got to be in the head already to kill your loved ones just because you've had a bad financial patch?

if you feel you've let them down, take your own life. or do a runner.
even if the wife was nobbing around, why kill your daughter?

i think there's a lot more to this that might come out in time

Without double checking the Sundays I think his debts far exceeded the value of his house.

I posted earlier that I didn't believe a chap could shoot his own family as seems likely to have been the case. Sadly I couldn't have been more wrong.

Why, why, why I can only think that he completely and utterly flipped. Hard to feel sorry for him though. dl

I don't really feel sorry for him (although I don't think taking your life is ever the answer) but his wife and daughter. That is just pure selfishness to take them with him.

The house was placed into court order in Sep 07 due to the payments stopping.
He wasnt allowed to sell it.

There was a clause added to his property. He couldn't sell without the permission of a judge or his creditors.

It must have been a horible situation to be in if he thought taking the family out is the way forward.

If its right then selfish idiot.

They keep saying 'he amassed his fortune by selling..blah blah' sounds more like he amassed a huge amount of debt.

There were plenty of ways of sorting this out than kill your family.

Or was he really so bad that appearances meant more to this man?

A court order doesn't necessailry stop you from selling your house - it just means that the creditors owning the court order get the money first, so if he sold it for the £1.2M it was supposed to be worth and the court order was for the same amount, he would get nothing and still be up shiite street because he owes the Revenus £800K.

I still can't get my head around this. I think that's because of him shooting his daughter and the animals. Thankfully this utterly evil behaviour is incredibly rare (remember Bramber?).

And it's not as if he had done something so bad - an Ian Huntley, for example - that he just had to end the shame on him and his family. He was simply a rather poor businessman who thought he was an Alan Sugar and wasn't. So, so sad. Especially for the relatives left. dl

Sadly sounds like a case of money meaning everything to someone and due to the ongoing pressure of worrying about his business/cash over the last few years, he simply flipped.

I'm staggered that he went to a BBQ with friends and family where no-one thought he was acting strangely, and the photographs show hime looking quite normal and happy, yet a few hours later he was destroying everything that he loved
You'll find that people are very often very calm and 'normal' just prior to committing suicide (sorry can't comment on murdering one's entire family and pets !!!) as effectively they have found a way (as cuckoo as it may be) and settled on a method to exit their own private hell.

My ex fiance suddenly cheered up (long history of clinical depression), she went for a family meal and was found by medics later the next morning.....

and no, it wasn't something she had eaten at the meal !!

That is unfortunately very true For some people their perceived or real lives are so bad that once they have decided they are going to kill themselves that event is something they look forward too....

Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...
that suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.

From what I have read there was a 'charge' registered on the property with the Land Registry, similar to what divorced couples do. The property therefore cannot be sold as any attempt to do so flags up at Land Registry and is stopped. A charge can only be removed when both parties agree.

A charge doesn't have to be removed for the property to be sold - it's just up to the solicitors to settle in favour of the creditor before anything that's left is passed to the seller.

I think that's right, but then, WTF do I know?

In that case you are saying a property with a charge on it can be sold by the solicitors of the side that placed the charge.

If that is correct it still doesn't allow the owner to sell the property, thus removing control of what they do with his/her own home.

However, I still think the Land Registry would want the charge removed before any sale, if just to exonerate them of any wrongdoing.

Any solicitors in da house to confirm either way?

He must have been one of those very strongly driven types who could not stand the thought of imminent failure. A terrible thing to kill his wife and daughter though, not to mention those animals.

I doubt he was insecure or insane just too proud and his family paid the price ( ok his wife must have known something of what he was like but not his offspring)

- ive know lloyds names blow themselves away but theyve had the decency not to treat the family to the same fate ffs
