That is disgusting, and another example of the shocking police force in this country.

How was the offended (regardless of skin pigmentation), not apprehended for the crime of assult, where as one racist comment made it to court.

The country`s going to pot and its going to get worse I believe.
Im a gasman and see first hand how racist people can be (from both sides of the colour spectrum) from young to the old, especially working in bradford where there is ALOT of immigrants and asian people.
I can tell asian people dont like me being in their houses (dont know if its because im white and they have had grief from white people who knows) because they ALWAYS stand and watch me and hardly ever talk to me.
Ive heard 80 year old pensions say things that you wouldnt believe about non british people its pretty discusting the massive divide between races but thats the way it is.
Id like to think im a neutral person and have no discrepancies about other races but britain is fast becoming a VERY racist country........from every angle

Andy, different cultures behave in different ways. Watching what's going on can be because that's what they do in Discovery channel They would watch an Asian gasman in the same way they watch you. Perhaps that's what they do in their country- watch. Nothing worrying about it, it's just the way they are; slightly curious about how you do it. They don't converse with you because may be, they can't speak English well? Just giving this situation a tiny benefit of doubt in favour of diversity, that's all. Then again, it's possible that they don't like you for being different than them. In places like Bradford, Leeds and B'gham, ethnic minorities live in clusters, mainly interacting with their own kind for cultural/moral/traditional/religious safety and physical/emotional security reasons. IMO It doesn't really help positively towards the dream of the multicultural society where "imagine all the people......" type of thing does become a reality. Ethnic minorities need to break those iron walls around them and start interacting more with the dominant/other races to fulfil that dream.

Discrimination will always exist. Perhaps with time, racial discrimination will fade a little bit more. But discriminating upon how people look, how they talk, how they behave, what they do, what they drive, how much money they have, fat/slim, tall/short, their abilities etc. will carry on existing. Even if racial discrimination gets eradicated, there will be other kind of discrimination around to became an issue. That's the world we live in. Your point is that racial divide is growing. Well, on internet sites it's more visible, as many things can be expressed more easily on internet sites in compare to real public scenarios. It's not just the law but also the unspoken social codes that prohibit negative expression (against races or whatever) in real life scenes. Catharsis flow can be interrupted among "live" public, no matter how outspoken one is. Pen is mightier than the sword, but our keyboard is mightier than the world champion black belt karate kid not to forget

I would expect you to have a follow up apology in writing from Fedex, but as you say: you will never find out what the exact details of his Manager 'dealing with him' are. Disciplinary procedures are confidential, so as long as you trust the company will deal with it; I would think that the incident (as far as you are concerned and excepting the letter) is closed.

I made a complaint about a bus driver a couple of years back who forced me to perform an emergency stop (full ABS kicking in and me praying I wasn't going to slam into the side of the bus) when he pulled out in front of me from a side road.

I was all for jumping on the bus at the next stop and letting rip. Fortunately I realised that this would achieve nothing and simply took a note of the time, the place, the details of the bus and complained verbally and in writing.

I received a full apology with a similar line that the driver had admitted the incident and 'been dealt with'.

It's like my boss here at work says: if you see two people arguing in the office and one of them is shouting and the other is calm, it doesn't matter who IS wrong, you'll automatically assume the guy shouting is. Perception is the key... treat such incidents calmly (hard I know) and you will come out of it well.

I think Mus is quite right. The worst thing to do would be to drag yourself down to his level by slinging a racist remark back at him.

Hope he doesn't get another delivery near you Little Ginge!

I love the racist rouse, used with great response whenever required.
I work in the choc industry with asians, jamacians, poles(racist name calling?),ruskies, maltese.
They can use this rouse at any time, one whiff of it and the managers steer well clear.
Even now your not allowed to use age, ageist I believe,so as a manager put it you can call someone a c~~t but not an old c**t .
The idea of a racist remark comes from the idea of causing discomfort and annoyance to a chosen victim.
If you saw an overweight,ginger,disabled,col0ured gentleman, with glasses and a lisp,if you desired how would you chose to upset him as in revenge?god you've got enough choices, the first glaring points would be the size and colour.
Watch kids when they fall out they will pick on the most obvious visual point as a target for their venom.
If you disagree it's 'cause your a fat specky ginger nerd

Or an example of your shocking lack of knowledge of the prosecution system in this country.

He would have been arrested and then the CPS, a government body would have dropped the case as they often do with racial cases.

It was dropped at Derby Crown, but barristers had already been instructed and the jury were sat waiting.....

Very common with racial stuff.

The whole law, police and CPS aren't sure about it as yet. Meaning people get off with blatant stuff, and others get whacked, when it may not be so harsh or even racial.

I've put stuff to the CPS that I thought was stone-bonker to see them drop it because the reviewing lawyer is either scared to push something or not understand what they're dealing with.

Racial and non-racial.

Andy it's when they stop watching you in silence that you need to worry Seriously though such behaviour maybe odd to you but mate it's the norm where most Asians are concerned. It's nowt to do with the colour of your skin or anything, infact next time if and when it happens say ' chay nahin milay gi'. That'll give em' a little shock, a white man talking native.
