Enginetuner 2.1+ stroker engines

I have a cdb but needs a re-bore, its pretty bad on just the one cylinder. How much can you take out when re boring? the crank seems ok, it was from a version 1/2 ra. Alan was thinking of sending it down to you for a forged rebuild.

We wouldn't be worried with a CDB at plus 1mm. We'd need to see it to tell if it's a goer really. Come on down!

What's your projected power output? we often use Semi CDB's from the new age, safe for 450 plus for sure!

highly recommend this engine to anyone thinking about it, picked mine up on saturday and it drives like a dream....i would suggest sending your car down to alan and the team and letting them do the business, it certainly worked for me and once martyn worked his magic with the mapping the results speak for themselves - the car is superb, great job

I have a mint CDB from a version 4 ra. Would like a 600-650 bhp engine with high 500 ft/lb. What would you recommend and what sort of price am I looking at. Pm me if you prefer. Thanks

Hi Alan,
I had a PM a while back from you stating the price for the 2.1 drive in and out. Very tempting price but i find myself interested in a 2.5.
What would be the price for drive in and out for a fully forged 2.5, bearing in mind i only have an EJ20 block? Looking to run upto 600 hp
Cheers,
Tom

A high torque figure would need a 2.5 engine, then you have the worry of a less than confidence inspiring block. Just ask Scott what he thinks of the 2.1 option!

You'd have to sell the block and start with an EJ257. The 2.5 is fine up until the point where we all start worrying about them, then it's your choice. I tend to feel that a standard block is probably stronger than folklore would suggest, we have never suffered a block failure from one. However 600 bhp and above is available from an EJ20 CDB, and with less sleepless nights. It's the reason we took off in the stroker direction.

Would the SCDB i currently have, fitted with the 2.1 stroker hold 550-600 reliably?
What would be the difference in cost between the 2.1 stroker using my current block and then using a SCDB (EJ257) and having that forged? 2.1 cheaper?

If you want to run an EJ257, you either trust in the integrity of the block, or you go for a linered or otherwise strengthened option.
If you want to run an EJ20, you at least have the choice of a CDB. I wouldn't say they are bullet proof, but they are much tougher.
We have run standard EJ257 blocks well over 600 bhp, but we're careful to point out the risks involved to those who wish to go there, and we only proceed if they accept that there is a quantifiable failure potential!
There is an argument to say that the S-CDB EJ20 could have better structural integrity than the S-CDB EJ257, but I can't see anybody soon wanting to pay out to test that theory. That's where the problem is! I get asked which block I'd recommend, and the EJ20 and EJ22 CDB's are always going to come out on top.
From where I come from, big engines are always best if all the boxes are ticked, but there are plenty of reasons, depending on turbo choice or car useage for example, for taking a good look at the EJ20 CDB stroker option.

i would definitely recommend the 2.1, alan and the team did a great job with mine, very driveable like a normal car with a whole load of power on tap whenever u feel the urge.....

Thanks for info Alan.
Could i get the best of both worlds by getting a EJ22 CDB and get it stroked to 2.33 by yourself?
Second question, do you take installments?
